Carol Rea Runyan, 89, Bethany, MO passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at her daughter’s home.
She was born on September 28, 1932, in Harrison County, Missouri the daughter of Robert O. and Alta Shuey (Madison) Foster.
On December 1, 1951, she married Delbert Clair Runyan in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2002.
Carol graduated from Martinsville High School in 1950. She was a member of the Martinsville United Methodist Church, Harrison County Community Hospital Auxiliary, E.C. Society and a library volunteer. Most of her lifetime was dedicated to her family and work on the farm. She milked cows, raised chickens, and produced a very large vegetable garden for 50 years. In her later years, she enjoyed her bible study group, cooking and baking for the Crestview residents, sewing and dollmaking.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brother, Darryl Lea; sisters, Esta Mae Williams and Lois Jean Parks; in-laws, Robert and Naomi Runyan; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Carol is survived by her children, Jeanie Lou (Ed) Barber, New Hampton, MO, Ronald Lee (Sandy) Runyan, Bethany, MO and Karen Lynne (Bruce) Nail, Bethany, MO; sister-in-law, Beverly Runyan, Bethany, MO; grandchildren, Casey Nichols, Martinsville, MO, Corey (Jamie) Nichols, Bethany, MO, Cully (Julie) Nichols, Martinsville, MO, Reggie Runyan, Martinsville, MO, Ronnette Maples, Arizona, Sabrina (Dusty) Ellis, Bethany, MO, Brian Nail, Eagleville, MO, Crissy (Chad) Wooderson, Blue Springs, MO, and Dustin (Nikki) Nail, Gilman City, MO; step-grandchildren, Brooke Shipers-Johnson, Ashley Pittsenbarger, Shelby Shipers-Burrows, and Brady Shipers; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews; and classmates and dear friends, Lois Blessing, Beverly Butler, Colleen Smith, and Phyllis Daniel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Kidwell Cemetery, Martinsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
