A Hopkins woman was seriously injured and lifeflighted following a wreck Friday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Joan Westcott (77) of Hopkins was southbound on Katy Road one mile south of Hopkins at around 3:40 pm when she lost control, traveled off the east side, and overturned. Westcott was ejected from the vehicle, and a 14 year old male passenger was partially ejected. Westcott was seriously injured and life flighted to KU Medical Center in Kansas City. The 14 year old passenger received moderate injuries and was taken to Mosaic in St. Joseph.
