Courthouse News for February 6th, 2019

On January 22, 2019, at 1:06 AM, a Nodaway County Deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of E Warren in Hopkins, MO to a disturbance call. During this complaint the deputy located methamphetamine in plain view in the home. A 31 year old female was taken into custody for questioning. A child was taken into protective custody and turned over to the Children’s Division and Juvenile Authorities. The adult female was later released and the investigation is on-going. On the same night, January 22, 2019, at about 4:00 AM, a Nodaway County Deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of E Barnard in Hopkins to investigate a suspicious person in a vehicle. During this call the deputy made contact with an adult male inside the vehicle. The Deputy was given consent to search the vehicle. The Deputy located methamphetamine and heroin based on a preliminary field test. Eric M Crabbe, age 31 of West Allis, WI, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

On January 23, 2019, investigators from the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Tarkio Police completed a narcotics investigation involving an individual who was being supplied methamphetamine from Council Bluffs and distributing it into Nodaway County. Nodaway County Deputies and Maryville Police conducted surveillance on an apartment complex located in the 500 block of E. 7th Street in Maryville. At about 5:45 PM, two adult males and one adult female were taken into custody in the parking lot of this apartment complex. Deputies recovered cash and methamphetamine at the scene. David Lewis, age 41 of Ravenwood, MO was charged in Nodaway County with distribution of a controlled substance. The second male, Brian Clark, age 41, of Tarkio, MO, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance after Tarkio Police conducted a simultaneous search of Clark’s residence in Tarkio. The female was released after questioning.

On January 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Jeff Shelby (52) of Bethany alleging Trafficking Drugs (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony).

On January 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Rickey Crowley (20) of Conception Junction alleging Driving While Revoked (2nd or 3rd Offense).

On January 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Gerald Bonor (68) of Eagleville alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On January 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Bahodir Saitokhunov (28) of Brooklyn (NY) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On January 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Abdirasul Sharibkhaodjaev (23) of Seattle (WA) alleging Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On January 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Daniel Score (32) of Eagleville alleging Driving While Revoked and No Insurance.

On January 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Nicholas Fowler (26) of Minneapolis (MN) alleging Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts Failure to Secure Child.

On January 31st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Daniel Pyle (74) of Bethany alleging three counts Statutory Sodomy (Felony). Charges were filed following a Grand Jury Indictment. Bond was set at $200,000.

On January 31st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Rex Milligan (55) of Bethany alleging Statutory Rape (Felony) and Statutory Sodomy (Felony). Charges were filed following a Grand Jury Indictment. Bond was set at $50,000, cash only.

On January 31st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Elmer Sorrell (54) of High Ridge (MO) alleging Burglary (Felony), Stealing (Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felony), and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Felony). The charges were filed following a Grand Jury Indictment. Bond was set at $500,000, cash only.

On January 31st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against James Wilper (38) of Bethany alleging Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony).

On January 31, 2019, at approximately 2:40 p.m. The Taylor County Sheriff's Office received a report of multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 2 and Crestwood Ave, near New Market. Carmen Spencer, 59, of Bedford, was traveling east bound in her 2007 Cadillac Escalade when a 2005 Dodge Caravan, driven by Kris Davies, 58, of Clarinda, failed to yield the right of way and struck Spencer's vehicle. Spencer was transported to Clarinda Regional Health Center for treatment of minor injuries. Davies and a passenger of the Escalade were uninjured. The Escalade sustained damages that were estimated at $18,000 while the damages to the Caravan were estimated at $7,500. The Taylor County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by New Market Fire and Rescue, Clarinda EMS, Thornton and Hensley Towing, and Motor Inn Towing.

On January 31st, Special Prosecutor Barbara Klima filed charges against Terry Atkison (38) of Darlington in Nodaway County alleging Non-Support (Felony).

On January 31st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Hugo Santana (40) of Maryville alleging Driving While Revoked (2nd or 3rd Offense).

On February 1st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Cory Farrell (21) of Grant City alleging No Valid License, No Insurance, and Failure to Register.

 On February 1, 2019 a Dodge Caravan driven by Chelsey Clymer of Mount Ayr, IA was traveling south bound on S Harrison St between Madison and Monroe ST in Mount Ayr. A Chevy Silverado driven by Robbie Haley of Mount Ayr, IA was in a parking stall on the west side of S Harrison between Madison and Monroe ST. Haley backed out of the parking stall onto S Harrison ST failing to yield the right of way to Clymer. The rear passenger side bumper of Haley’s vehicle struck Clymer’s vehicle on the passenger side. The approximate amount of damage to Clymer’s vehicle is $2,500. The approximate amount of damage to Haley’s vehicle is $500. Haley cited himself for Unsafe Backing on Highway.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Lauren Stobbe (32) of Eagleville alleging Receiving Stolen Property (Felony).

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Michael Bradford (37) of Branson (MO) alleging No Valid License.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Dominique Weaver (24) of Dallas (TX) alleging No Valid License.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Samuel Steele (35) of Milan (IL) alleging Operating as Interstate Motor Fuel User Without Being Licensed as Such.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Tiera Watkins (25) of Elk River (MN) alleging No Valid License.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Casey Welch (25) of Trenton alleging No Insurance.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Timothy Rinehart (53) of Cainsville alleging No Insurance.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Austin Sawyer (20) of Lees Summit (MO) alleging Operating Motor Vehicle Owned by Another Without Insurance.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Coltan Jennings (24) of Bethany alleging Operating Motor Vehicle Owned by Another Without Insurance.

On February 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Carlos Acosta (38) of Ridgefield Park (NJ) alleging Operating as an Interstate Motor Fuel User Without Being Licensed as Such.

The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office and the Ringgold County Medical Examiner investigated the death of 52 year old Brenda Kay Sublett, of 704 E. Van Buren St Mount Ayr, Iowa on February 2nd. Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office was contacted for a welfare check. Sublett was discovered deceased upon officer’s arrival. An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, IA. The cause of death is pending autopsy results. No foul play is suspected. Anyone with information, please call the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office.

Previously, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Lawrence Wayne Davison (64) of Burlington Junction alleging 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Elderly Abuse in conjunction with the the alleged beating of his 88 year old father. The February 2nd St. Joseph News-Press reported that the 88 year old man had died on Tuesday. Subsequently, Prosecutor Rice amended the charges to 2nd Degree Murder (Felony). Judge Douglas Thomson subsequently raised bond to $500,000, cash only.

On February 3rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Lydia Hart (33) of Albany on a Gentry County Felony warrant for No Valid License and Failure to Register. She was also arrested on a Harrison County warrant for Non-Support.

On February 4th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jamie Leigh (40) of Quitman on a Callaway County warrant for Fraud.

On February 4th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Andrew Wiles (41) of Albany alleging three counts Domestic Assault (Felony). Bond was set at $10,000, cash or corporate surety.

On February 4th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Devin Kahn (30) of Maryville alleging Violation of a Protection Order.

On February 4th, Joseph Bowman (46) of West Des Moines failed to appear on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in Worth County. A warrant was issued by Judge Joel Miller for $1,000, cash or corporate surety.

On February 4th, Lucky Gladstone (18) of Sheridan pleaded guilty to a charge of Minor Visibly Intoxicated in Worth County Associate Circuit Court. He was assessed $304 in fines and court costs.

On February 4th, Oscar Martinez (26) of Brookline Station (MO) failed to appear in Worth County on a charge of No Valid License (2nd Offense). A notice of hearing was mailed to Martinez and returned by the Postal Service. A warrant was issued by Judge Joel Miller for $1,000, cash or corporate surety.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
