North Harrison’s junior high girls snapped a two game losing skid Tuesday, beating Gilman City 32-17. Previously, they had a good tournament in Mercer, coming just short of the title. They then had a rough loss against a good Albany team. Forced to play back to back nights, they were able to regroup and show the kind of growth and development that they needed to take the next step. Addison Milligan had 10 points to join Hali Smith and Ava Rinehart in double figures. Ava Rinehart had 12 steals, seven in the first quarter to put the Hawks down for the count. Hali Smith had three blocks and the team blocked six as the team held strong against the relentless drives of Hailey McClure. Bentley Glenn started looking for her chances to get on the board and had some good looks at the basket. And Raegan Hogan saw her numbers in rebounds and steals go up.
Tenley Griffith’s free throw put Gilman City up 3-2, but
from there, Ava Rinehart started stealing the ball right and left as the

again for a score, Addison Milligan got a pass from Hali Smith and scored from
the high post, and Rinehart converted another steal to make it 12-3.
McClure scored twice for the Hawks to cut it to 12-7 early
in the second, but then Addison Milligan scored twice from the high post and
Hali Smith added a steal to build it back up to 18-7 before McClure cut it to
18-9 at the half.
Emmery Smith, a cousin of Hali Smith, knocked one down to
cut it to 18-11, but Hali Smith scored off a Rinehart steal, Rinehart got loose
in transition and got a pass from Hali Smith, Smith aired one out to Milligan,
and then Hali Smith got a steal, got it to Ava, who got it to Milligan for the
finish to make it 26-11.
McClure started heating up again for Gilman City as the
Hawks cut it to 26-17, but then Ava Rinehart knocked down a shot from the baseline
