Brock Healy Homers Twice in Tiger Win

Brock Healy homered twice and Worth County held off a third inning King City rally before winning 14-4 in a run-shortened win as they head towards a crash course with Northeast Nodaway. The Tigers won their tenth game of the year, with their only loss coming to Northeast Nodaway. The teams played an epic extra inning game last year.

King City scored a run in the first with a single, an errant pickoff throw, and a groundout to make it 1-0, but Brock Healy, with two strikes on him, got the run back as he hit it to deep right field and circled the bases to knot it up. Later, Jordan Dannar doubled and took third and home on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

The rain came in and a heavy downpour ensued, but somehow, the Tigers kept King City off the board and pitcher Hudson Cameron got Worth County out with no damage done. Just as abruptly, the rain stopped and the game resumed.

With one out in the Tiger second, Cole Hardy reached on an error, Clayton Oberhauser walked, and Brock Healy was hit by a pitch. Mason Hiatt struck out, but Cole Hardy scored on a wild pitch and Jordan Dannar singled to left to score two. He got to second when a cutoff throw got away, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on Hudson Cameron’s double to make it 6-1.

With one on in the King City third, lightning came in and the game was delayed for 15 minutes as the players began a game of tick tack toe, where one side marked the ball and rolled it to the other side. But before the game could finish, the thunder and lightning moved out of the area and the real game resumed.

This time, King City teed off and cut it to 6-4 off some good hitting and an errant pickle play. It would have been worse, but catcher Jarrett Gilland picked a runner off second to help preserve the lead.

With one out in the Tiger third, an errant third strike got away from the catcher and Cole Hardy reached safely. Clayton Oberhauser walked and then Brock Healy broke the game open with a three run home run to make it 9-4, to the same spot in right that he hit his first ball.

The floodgates opened again after Mason Hiatt reached on another third strike that got away for a wild pitch. He took second on  a wild pitch. Jordan Dannar reached on a dropped pop fly by the shortstop; Hiatt was caught in a rundown, but escaped to third as Dannar took second. Hiatt scored on a wild pitch as Dannar took third. Tucker Fletchall grounded out to first to score one, then Hudson Cameron reached on an error and scored all the way from first on Weston Hill’s single.

Hudson Cameron walked a batter, got two strikeouts, but then got into trouble with a single and a walk before running out of pitches. Tucker Fletchall came in to pitch and threw a huge Eephus pitch that dropped in perfectly for strike three to get out of the inning.

Owyn Wuillay walked and took second and third on wild pitches. Cole Hardy shot a single over short to score one and Clayton Oberhauser walked. They took second and third on a wild pitch and then Brock Healy dug one out of the dirt and beat out a slow roller to second to end it.
