9-11 Tiger Baseball Holds Off Stanberry 9-7

Worth County’s 9-11 baseball team held off a late Stanberry rally and hung on to win 9-7 to get their tenth win of the season against two losses.

Worth County found itself down 1-0 after one, but then Paul Hoff doubled to left to start the game and Jace Mullock singled him home. Mason Gray reached on an error to bring in Mullock and later came around to score on a wild pitch. Jaden Roush later restarted the Tigers with a walk and went to third on wild pitches. Miles Saville was hit by a pitch, and then Gunnar Smith singled to score Roush and then Saville came around as Stanberry was throwing it around to make it 5-1.

Stanberry cut it to 5-3, but then Luka Sagel reached on a bad hop single, took second on a throwing error, and came home on Paul Hoff’s triple. Hoff had a big day at the plate for the Tigers with a double and a triple. Hoff scored on a wild pitch. Jace Mullock walked to restart the Tigers and Max Hiatt hit a home run and circled the bases to make it 9-3.

Stanberry got two runs across to cut it to 9-5 in the third, but two outstanding defensive plays kept it from getting closer. Miles Saville fielded a grounder cleanly and got it to Mason Gray at first for an out, and catcher Paul Hoff threw to Gunnar Smith to get a runner out stealing.

The Bulldogs chipped away with two more runs after they led off the last inning with a hit, but Max Hiatt shut the door with three strikeouts to close out the game.
