The Worth County School Board Wednesday at a special meeting voted to outsource its lunch program to Lunchtime Solutions, based in South Dakota. The school says that the move will save it $52,000 in annual costs. The school had been losing money on its lunch program; during the 2022-23 school year, revenues were $203,900. Expenses were $271,769. With Lunchtime Solutions, school revenues are projected to be $212,056 and expenses at $219,036. They were the lone bidder. Northeast Nodaway also uses Lunchtime Solutions.
In April, the school put out a Request for Proposal for food service management bids. Some of the reasons given were annual planning and budgeting, compliance and regulations, state and federal requirements, menu options, buying power, and supply chain challenges.
The school obtained a quote from Techline Sports Lighting out of Austin (TX) to replace its football lights for $234,000. The current lights were damaged during a storm in April. The board is accepting bids for replacement and repair and will make a decision at the June meeting.
