Liz Brown Scores 13 as Tiger Girls Win Third Straight

Worth County posted its third straight win as Liz Brown had 13 points and the Tigers cut down on their turnovers in Friday’s 46-30 win over North Harrison. Previously, Worth County had turned the ball over around 25 times a game. But in Friday’s win, they only surrendered the ball 10 times.

The game threatened to head south for the Tigers after Hailey Adwell went in for a layup and drew a hard foul from Jaci Davis, sending her into the stage early in the game. She missed both free throws and was shaken up, coming out of the game.

Previously, against Christian, with the Tigers up five in the fourth quarter and Adwell having the hot hand, she went down and the Lions came back for the three point win. Sure enough, history threatened to repeat itself as Jaci Davis shot North Harrison into a 7-3 lead at the 2:15 mark. But then the Tigers showed some resilience as Kynah Steele hit a 3-pointer and Ali Brown hit an inside shot off a pass from Brylee Rush to put them up 8-7.

After a pair of missed free throws from North Harrison, Worth County started heating up from outside as Liz Brown and Brylee Rush hit 3-pointers for the Tigers; the first was after Ali Brown kept a possession alive with an offensive board. Jayliegh Robins did all she could to keep the Shamrocks close, scoring six points in the period. Kynah Steele picked up her third foul, but then Hailey Adwell came back in for the Tigers and Liz Brown got the hot hand for the Tigers, scoring two straight 3-pointers late in the second quarter to give them a 21-13 halftime lead.

Jaci Davis picked up two free throws to cut the Shamrock deficit to 21-15 to start the third, but Liz Brown and Taylor Sanders hit back to back threes to make it 27-15, forcing North Harrison out of their zone and into their man to man. North Harrison had sought to take away Kynah Steele and Ali Brown inside with some success, as Jayliegh Robins had 3 blocks and Halle Morgan had 2 as the Tigers tried and failed to penetrate it.

But with North Harrison forced to come out on their shooters, Worth County was able to find some open looks for Kynah Steele with Ali Brown on the bench with four fouls. Rylee Ruckman and Taylor Sanders chipped in 3-pointers as the Tigers pulled away to a 38-18 lead after three.

With North Harrison trying to take away the Tiger shooters, Ali Brown came back and got untracked in the fourth quarter, getting six points in succession to give the Tigers a 44-20 lead at one point. Trendi Johnson got the hot hand for North Harrison, getting 8 of her 10 points in the period as the Shamrocks got as close as 16 before the Tigers started going to their delay game.
