Ali Brown’s Lockdown Defense Propels Tigers Past Stanberry

Worth County’s girls overcame 10 for 42 shooting and 20 turnovers as Ali Brown’s lockdown defense on Stanberry post player Amelia Wallace provided the difference in Worth County’s 27-24 victory over Stanberry last Tuesday. Wallace had burned the Tigers in Stanberry’s 31-24 win over Worth County in the Albany Tournament in December. Brown added 9 points on the other end for Worth County.

Stanberry had seemingly taken control of the game after three quarters, taking a 19-14 lead in a low scoring game in which neither team could hit the broadside of a barn. But then Worth County suddenly came up with an offensive outburst in the fourth quarter to take the lead, and then held strong on defense at the end to preserve the three point win.

For Worth County, Ali Brown had 9 points. Brylee Rush had 6, Taylor Sanders 5, Kynah Steele and Liz Brown 3, and Paige Sherer 1.

Ali Brown had 7 boards. Kynah Steele had 5, Paige Sherer 4, Brylee Rush 3, Hailey Adwell 2, and Liz Brown 1.

Kynah Steele and Liz Brown had 3 assists each. Taylor Sanders and Hailey Adwell had 1.

Ali Brown had 4 steals. Kynah Steele and Paige Sherer had 3 each, Brylee Rush 2, and Taylor Sanders 1.
