Richard G. Baker, age 61, Grant City, Missouri died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home in Grant City.
Richard was born June 1, 1961, at Clarinda, Iowa, the son of the late Aubra Guy and Helen Maxine (Brooks) Baker.
Richard was a graduate of Worth County R-3 High School, class of 1980.
A self-employed carpenter, Richard had owned and operated Richard Baker Construction in Grant City. Most recently he was working for Bunker Farms, driving grain trucks.
Richard was always an active part of the community in which he lived. He enjoyed all the many Tigers athletic sporting events no matter the sport. Richard was instrumental in the founding of the Little Tigers Football program. Richard had also helped coach youth all-star baseball teams.
Another love and passion of Richard’s was the world of auto racing. Something he had participated in from racing go carts and sprint cars to just enjoying all types of racing.
He was preceded in death by his Father Aubra (1969), Mother Helen (2012), a sister Wilma and an infant nephew Tony Moore.
Survivors include Sisters Margaret (Mervin) Moore, Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Carolyn Baker, Grant City, Significant other Mary Welch, Conception Junction, Missouri, extended family Mindy, Austin, Johnny and Natalie Carlson, Adam Swaney, Luke Mobley, Emma and Sarah Young, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held 1 PM, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Grant City. The family has asked that in honor of Richard that attendees wear Tiger athletic or racing apparel. The family will receive friends from 11 AM-12:45 PM prior to the services.
