Tiger Boys Survive Track Meet to Outlast Rock Port 77-70

Worth County’s boys broke out of a late-season slump at just the right time, leading Rock Port from wire to wire in a 77-70 win in districts Monday night. Before the game, Coach Les New had said that his squad needed four different players to score in double figures to be effective. Worth County had gotten by in their 57-45 win over Maysville with three in double figures, but this time, they got four.

The Tigers raced out to a 20-14 first quarter lead and extended it to 39-28 at halftime. From there, they held off repeated charges from Rock Port to get the win. The Blue Jays got it down to six several times in the second half, but could never get closer, as Worth County would always hit a timely 3-pointer or have someone get the hot hand.

Alex Rinehart had 22 points, Jackson Runde 20, Jaxon Anderson 17, and Aydan Gladstone 13 for the Tigers. Grant Cameron had 3 and Jackson Smith 2. The Tigers had nine 3-pointers for the day.
