Kaylee McElvain Posts Career High as Tiger Girls Advance

Worth County erupted for 79 points against West Nodaway, the most points this group of players has scored, as they got a 79-30 win over the Rockets in districts Saturday.

Anna Gladstone had 28 points; it was the third time she has gotten that many points, and each time, it has been on the new Albany court. She had 28 in Albany last year against the Warriors, 28 against Pattonsburg this year in the Albany Tournament, and 28 in Saturday’s game.

For Kaylee, she erupted for 11 points in the third quarter to get to her career high mark. Two more Tigers got into double figures as Regan Allee had 11 and Kristin New added 10 for the Tigers.

The game was the second in a row in which Worth County had broken the 70 point barrier and the third time in the last four games. They scored 76 against Maysville Thursday, and they scored 73 against Pattonsburg last Monday.

Regan Allee started off the scoring with a 3-pointer, and then Kristin New got loose in transition after a Kaylee McElvain steal to make it 5-0. Riley Linville countered with two free throws, but then Regan Allee hit another 3-pointer, Anna Gladstone got a steal and fed Kaylee McElvain for a layup, and then Kaylee got another steal and Regan Allee entered it into Anna, who got two free throws to make it 12-2.

The Tigers kept pulling away with balanced scoring as Kaylee McElvain had 8 in the first quarter and Regan Allee, Kristin New, and Anna Gladstone all had six in the period as Worth County pulled out to a 26-8 lead.

In the second, Anna Gladstone had 14 points, getting 8 of them off straight steals and Regan Allee and Kaylee McElvain added 5 each as the Tigers pulled out to a 50-10 halftime lead.

In the third, Kaylee got the hot hand with 11 points, and Anna Gladstone added 8 in the period as Worth County led 73-20. Ali Brown got on the board in the fourth, getting four points. EmiLee Brown added a putback at the buzzer.

Anna Gladstone had 28 points and Kaylee McElvain 24. Regan Allee had 11, Kristin New 10, Ali Brown 4, and EmiLee Brown 2.

Worth County had 41 tips and 35 steals for the game. Anna Gladstone matched a career high in steals, when she got 11; she got 11 last year against East Harrison as well. Kaylee McElvain and Kristin New had 9, Megan Cassavaugh 3, Regan Allee 2, and EmiLee Brown 1.

Kristin New had 12 tips. Kaylee McElvain had 9, Anna Gladstone 8, Megan Cassavaugh 5, Taylor Sanders 3, Merrideth Spiers 2, and Regan Allee and EmiLee Brown 1 each.

Kristin New had 9 assists. Anna Gladstone had 6, Kaylee McElvain 4, Regan Allee 3, Megan Cassavaugh 2, and Justina Wimer and Elizabeth Brown 1.
