Bea June Allee Gaitan was born January 19, 1935 in Worth County to Robert and Wilma Kobbe Allee. She passed away February 24, 2020 at the Worth County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Grant City, MO.
She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1953, married, and she was blessed with a daughter Penni, son Kelly, and daughter Christina. Bea worked the family farm around the Bedford/Blockton area. Being a nature lover, she made a home for many a stray animals and always enjoyed the birds and flowers. They moved to Shenandoah, Iowa where she started her professional career and worked for the Superintendent of Schools. She was top notch seamstress and often made her girls Easter dresses. Bea also enjoyed antiquing, went to auctions and refinished beautiful pieces that she would treasure most of her life. Later she moved to Omaha where she worked as Warren Buffet’s personal assistant, worked also for the local TV channel and Ford Motor Co.
In 1974, she moved with her daughters to her beloved Texas. She worked for politicians, real estate companies and medical corporations until finally settling in her home of 30 some years in the hill country lake area West of Austin where she worked for a local builder. Here she made it her mission to rescue and care for all animals and started a feral cat rescue with friends. She loved cooking and baking for family gatherings. She welcomed to her family, her loving son-in-law, Alex Martinez and her pride and joy, Heather her granddaughter. Bea enjoyed crafting with her daughter Penni, and loved watching Heather grow up through the years cheerleading and becoming a beautiful bride to Chris Woehl. Great grandkids Carter and Avery were welcomed to the family, which made way for Bea's new nickname Grandma Grapes.
Bea could be found honky tonkin and boot scootin to Waylon, Willie and the boys with her daughters. Bea visited Seattle, as Chris built her house at Snoqualmie Pass, while there, they hiked to the top of Mount Catherine together. After Bea's brother passed away, she and Chris made an Alaskan ferry cruise together as a tribute to him.
Throughout her life, Bea would make trips to race tracks around the country where her dad and brother, Harold Allee, trained and owned thoroughbred horses. During which, she would likely run into her youngest daughter, Chris, or one of her nephews at the track.
As Bea’s health declined, she came back to Worth County to be surrounded by her sister, Frances, and her sisters' family. She enjoyed many family gatherings, celebrations and sporting events. Along with her nieces, they made a memorable trip to Colorado Springs to welcome Bea’s loving companion, Mandy, her cat.
Bea was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Penni, her father, mother and brother, Harold Allee.
Bea is survived by her son-in-law: Alex Martinez, granddaughter, Heather (Chris) Woehl and great grandchildren, Carter and Avery; son, Kelly (Janet) Stoner, grandchildren, Seth and Laci; daughter, Christina (Greg) Craven; sister, Frances Dowis and nieces and nephews, Rob (Karen) Dowis, Connie Dowis, Kirby Dowis, Hal (Sharon) Dowis and Kyla (Bob) McClain and their families.
Services are pending at a later date. Memorials can be made to the VanSkyock Cemetery in Sheridan, MO, TNR Maryville (cat rescue) in Maryville, Mo, or the Worth County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Grant City (MO) under the direction of Prugh Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
