Jay Barker Shipley, age 94, Grant City, Missouri died Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Mosaic Medical Center, Albany, Missouri.
Jay was born May 21, 1925 at the family home in Isadora, Missouri. He was the son of the late Ivor and Edna (Barker) Shipley.
Jay attended and graduated from Grant City High School in Grant City.
He was united in marriage to Ilene Nicholson on May 21, 1950 in Maryville, Missouri. To this union two boys were born Dale and John. Jay and Ilene spent most of their married life in Isadora, where they were engaged in farming.
Jay was of the Christian Faith and attended church regularly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ilene (2014), two brothers, Kelton and Neil Shipley and two sisters, Leota Batt and Maxine Wheatly.
Jay’s survivors include two sons, John R. (Martha) Shipley, St. Joseph, Missouri, Dale E. Shipley, Kansas City, Missouri, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his companion Donna Nickason, Grant City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home in Grant City. Burial will be in the Grant City Cemetery, Grant City. Memorial: Grant City Cemetery c/o Rebecca Summers, 30644 170th Road, Grant City, MO 64456.
