Jake Shipman, Ashley Proffitt Resign from North Nodaway

Jake Shipman, head Boys Basketball Coach, Baseball Coach, and Athletic Director, has resigned from North Nodaway. He has accepted a Principal’s job at Mound City. “It was a difficult decision for me, but Mound City is a good school,” he said. Shipman turned the boys basketball and baseball teams into competitive teams over the last several years, and the basketball team won its first tournament in 50 years back in 2015. “That was a fun year,” he said. “I hope it’s not another 50 years before we win our next tournament.”

Shipman will continue to coach the baseball team this year.

The board voted to hire Alan Calfee as the Head Football Coach for the North/West Nodaway Football Cooperative. He had previously coached the Junior High team, which was undefeated last year and was 4-1 the year before. Brandon Phipps will return as an assistant, and Houghton will be another assistant for the program. Trautz, who was an assistant for the varsity team last year, will coach the Junior High program.
