Virginia Ann Waldeier of Grant City, Mo. Passed away at 12:30 P.M. on July 5 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Mo. Virginia was born October 23, 1934 to Vince and Lucille Neuwoehner of Des Moines, Iowa. She had one sister, Mary Gaye who preceded her in death.

On December 26, 1973 Virginia and Lorace Waldeier were married. Their lives revolved around cattle and row crop farming, their pets, gardening and their respective families. Lorace served 16 years as sheriff of Worth County and Virginia assisted him with dispatching and also worked as the Activities Director of the Worth County Nursing home. After they retired from their respective careers they spent their remaining years together farming, gardening, playing cards and in general enjoying their lives. Virginia was on the Library Board and served originally as treasurer for several years and ultimately as President for several more years. She was an excellent cook and Lorace loved to eat so they spent many summers raising a vegetable garden, canning, giving away the excess and trying new recipes. They raised red Angus cattle and over a period of 20+ years developed an exceptional herd of cattle. Each year there were bottle calves to feed and together they raised many a bottle calf. Virginia and Lorace loved pets and adopted several from local shelters, each day at 4:00 p.m. they would retire to a shed Lorace had built and drink a beer and feed the pets treats. Dinner was at 6 p.m. like clockwork and after a bit of T.V they retired early to bed as they rose at about 4:30 a.m.
Virginia and Lorace’s lives were inextricably linked and in their later years when their health declined they spent most days at home; enjoying each other’s company and dealing with the various issues which arose with Lorace’s eyesight. He preceded Virginia in death on October 20, 2018 and Virginia’s health decline accelerated. After a fall the first of May 2019 Virginia moved to the Loch Haven nursing home in Macon, Mo. to be closer to her daughters.
