Obituary -- Janice O'Riley 1938-2019

Janice Ilene O’Riley, 81, of Hopkins, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Janice was born on January 12, 1938 in Hopkins, Missouri to Geral and Thelma (Beezley) Cross. She was a 1956 graduate of Hopkins High School and member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Janice worked for O’Brien Brother’s Sewing Factory in Bedford, Iowa and later with Eveready Battery for 27 years in Maryville.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. She was a very talented woman, excellent woodworker and beautiful seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and especially homemaking. Her home was her haven and the gathering point of many special family events and holidays. Her favorite times were spent surrounded by her many children and grandchildren and especially with a baby in her arms.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandson, Gabriel Phipps.

She married John Patrick O’Riley on May 6, 1956 in Maryville, Missouri. He survives of the home in Hopkins, Missouri. Additional survivors include their children, Donald O’Riley, Hopkins, Steven O’Riley, Hopkins, Denise (Rick) Woldruff, Hopkins, Roger (Rene’) O’Riley, Hopkins, Kenneth (Ann) O’Riley, Blair, Nebraska, Anita (Greg) Coulter, Conception Junction, Bryan (Paula) O’Riley, Hopkins and Anthony (Deandra) O’Riley, Clearmont; sister, Carol Davison, Maloy, Iowa; brother-in-law, Phillip O’Riley, Jr., Sun City, Arizona; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Saturday, July 6th at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. Burial Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. Rosary 6 pm Friday at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8 pm.
