Courthouse News for July 10th, 2019

The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department published the following post on their Facebook Page:
On July 2, 2019, Judge Douglas Thomson sentenced Jerry VanPelt to the following sentence to be served in the Missouri Department of Corrections:
–10 years for Child Molestation in the 1st degree. 
–4 years each for two separate charges of Child Molestation in the 4th degree, (8 years) with these charges to run concurrently.
–7 years for Child Molestation in the 3rd degree, to run consecutive with the other charges.
One of the victim's gave an emotional victim's impact statement to the court prior to sentencing.
This investigation was conducted by Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong, who would like to recognize others that brought this case to light and who provided assistance and support to law enforcement and to the victims. School Councilor Kit Meiners, School Resource Officer Sgt. Rick Smail, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Women’s and Children’s Shelter Victim’s Advocates, Missouri Children's Division and Voices of Courage.

Kyle Grindstaff, 53, of Clearfield, was arrested in the 300 block of Broadway Street in Clearfield on July 2, 2019. Grindstaff was charged with Disorderly Conduct. He is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $300 bond.

On July 2nd, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against John Mancuso (18) of Grant City alleging speeding. On July 8th, he pleaded guilty and was assessed $52.50 in fines and court costs by Judge Joel Miller.

On July 2nd, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Alan Davis (20) of Redding alleging Speeding.

On July 3rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Charles Morin (41) of Grant City in Worth County on a Worth County Warrant for Failure to Appear (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia).

On July 3rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Judith Freeseman (62) of Bethany alleging No Insurance.

On July 3rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Sara Langfitt (20) of New Hampton alleging No Insurance.

On July 3rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Joey McClintock (23) of Eagleville alleging No Valid License.

On July 3rd, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Justin Vietz (29) of Stanberry alleging three counts of Passing a Bad Check.

On July 3rd, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Virgil Parman (44) of Grant City alleging Speeding, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On July 3rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Ross Swinehart (52) of Fairfax alleging DWI and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On July 3rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Viola Anyango (22) of Maryville alleging Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, Careless & Imprudent Driving, No Valid License, and Failure to Register.

On July 3rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Dominique Shelton (21) of Maryville alleging No Valid License.

On July 3rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Charles Wagner (49) of Maryville alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing. Bond was set at $1,000, with the defendant released on his own recognizance.

On July 4th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Crystal Davis (22) of Grant City in Gentry County on charges of DWI and Speeding.

On the night of July 5th, someone emptied the trash can at the new shelter house in the Sheridan Park.

On July 6th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jackie Tinkle (49) of Grant City in Worth County alleging Speeding, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway, and DWI.

On July 6th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Kurtis Dalbey (20) of Fillmore alleging DWI (Persistent, Felony). Bond was set at $1,000, with the defendant released on his own recognizance.

On the night of July 6th, a Blockton woman posted on her Facebook page that someone’s dogs had destroyed her rubber rain spout and that they had destroyed her neighbor’s rubber rain spouts two nights before. Blockton has a leash law for dogs.

On Sunday morning, July 7th, KCCI-TV out of Des Moines reported that at around 3:08 am in Leon, a city officer stopped a man in his 50’s. The police say the man sprayed the officer with a chemical agent, and the officer fired his weapon, leaving the man in critical condition. The man was subsequently lifeflighted to Des Moines. The officer was not injured.

Rocky Casteel of New Market was arrested at the 300 block of Adams St. in New Market on July 7, 2019. He was charged with assault. He is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $300 cash bond.
On July 8th, Harrison County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer filed charges against Richard King (44) of Bethany alleging No Valid License (3rd + Subsequent, Felony).

On July 8th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Clinton Hardin (27) of McFall alleging Domestic Assault (Felony). Bond was set at $7,500, with the defendant released on his own recognizance and must wear GPS monitoring device.

On July 8th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Walter Lomax (40) of King City alleging Burglary (Felony), Property Damage (Felony), and Stealing (Felony). Bond was set at $4,950, cash only.

On July 8th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Jonathan Hatte (20) of Albany alleging No Valid License.

On July 8th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Jailee Rogers (21) of St. Joseph alleging Passing a Bad Check.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Joe Lopez (27) of Grant City alleging Failure to Display Inspection Certificate and No Insurance.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Kyle Welch (24) of Grant City alleging No Insurance, Speeding, and No Seat Belt.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Ben Rinehart (24) of Eagleville alleging Speeding.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Walter Kilgore (58) of St. Joseph alleging Speeding.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Katherine Barber (28) of Grant City alleging No Seat Belt.

On July 8th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Mason Hawk (19) of Sheridan alleging Speeding.

On July 8th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Brian Tennant (49) of Barnard alleging Failure to Label Traps.

On July 8th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Richard Hartman (22) of College Springs (IA) alleging two counts Passing a Bad Check.

On July 9th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Lawrence Bohall (51) of Ravenwood alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Stealing.

On July 9th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Robert Saunders (62) of Maryville alleging Delivery of Controlled Substance at Jail (Felony).

On July 9th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Kaiden Vance (20) of Skidmore alleging Minor in Possession and Vision Reducing Material on Vehicle.

On July 9th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Mark Howell (46) of Bethany alleging No Valid License.

On July 9th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Clyde Rauch (61) of Grant City alleging Littering.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
