Dale, Jonna Healy Celebrate 40th Anniversary

On Sunday, Dale and Jonna Healy celebrated their 40th Anniversary. They were married on June 2nd, 1979 at St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Clarinda. They taught at New Market before they came to Worth County, where Dale was the High School Principal and Jonna was the band teacher.

When a group of Worth County school board members attempted to drive to New Market to observe Mr. Healy teaching, they ran into icy conditions and skidded off the road on Route E at the Missouri/Iowa Line where it cuts north from 246. But after that inauspicious first impression, the Healys came to Worth County and served for over 20 years and raised two children, Angie and Chris. Angie is still the winningest softball pitcher at Worth County, while Chris is now the head football coach for the Tigers.

Jonna led the Worth County band to numerous awards at various band competitions, and she is now a music salesperson. Dale still helps at the school any way he can, from driving the bus to supervising athletic events.
