New Changes in Missouri Drivers Licenses

The Missouri Department of Revenue has announced changes in the Missouri Drivers License procedure that it says will reduce fraud and help protect identity. This will end the over the counter system that has been in place since the 1990's.

Applicants will receive a temporary license and may keep the old license, which will be punched, "VOID." The permanent license will be produced at a secure US facility. The new license will be mailed in an unmarked envelope and will typically arrive in the mail at your home within 7 to 10 business days.

New cards will have laser perforations, a ghost image, fine lines through portrait and ghost image, overlapping data, your personal photo, the state seal, optional donor organ indicator, expiration date, the issue date, and a 2D barcode. Temporary cards will have "TEMPORARY" stamped across the paper along with mailing information.

Current licenses and nondriver identification cards remain valid until they expire. New and renewed licenses and identification cards will be issued under the new process.
