Meth Lab Remains Found in Worth County

The Worth County Sheriff's Department reports that they have found meth lab remains in the county around 2-3 months ago according to Sheriff Terry Sheddrick. The Sheriff's Department is seeking information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons involved in the production of such labs as well as the possession and/or sale of meth. Sheddrick said that people were stealing anhydrous ammonia tanks to use in the manufacture of meth. This creates a public health hazard as the leak of such tanks could force an evacuation. Worth County Emergency Services personnel recently did a training on anhydrous ammonia.

Meth labs have gotten much more portable in recent years with people making enough of the substance to sell and then discarding the remains. Usage is much more easily concealable as people can hide a meth bottle underneath their coat and squeeze it from time to time to ingest it.

Sheddrick said that people should watch for people who were not supposed to be in the area as well as strange cars. He said people should look for 2-3 liter bottles, eye salt, cold pills, lithium batteries, coffee filters, and rubber gloves, among other things. He said that people should watch for strange traffic around a house. Sheddrick said that people should be as specific as possible in giving information, including license plate numbers, names and/or descriptions of people, locations, and any other information that might be relevant. To report information involved with meth, contact the Worth County Sheriff's Department at (660) 564-2222.
