The Homecoming games with East Atchison didn’t go the way they wanted them to, as the Northeast Nodaway girls are still searching for their first win, and the boys saw their two-game winning streak snapped by a solid East Atchison squad. But they had fun getting themselves hyped up for the game, as Mylee Wilmes was named Queen and Austin Adwell was named King for the occasion. Aubrey Wilmes was named the Princess and Brody Jackson was named the Prince.
Attendants this year were Ashlynn Kennard and Quentin Sickels (juniors), Holly Bennett and Gauge Faustlin (sophomores), and Piper Gray and Brady O’Connell (freshmen). Kiley Yost and Gracin Runde was the other Princess and Prince candidates. Hadlie Porter and Waylon Hall were the crownbearers.
Krina Gobster introduced the cheerleaders. They are Georgia Taylor, Drayson Villegas, Hayley Yost, Blair Nelson, Mylee Wilmes, Piper Gray, Ashlynn Kennard, Holly Bennett, Jaylynn Burns, Brianna Meyer, Addie Thummel, and Rylee Scadden.
Coach Brayden Hanf introduced the girls basketball team. They are Brianna Meyer, Hayley Yost, Piper Gray, Bristol Hicks, Rylee Scadden, Mylee Wilmes, and Blair Nelson.
Coach Ike Werner introduced the boys basketball team. They are Jace Burns, Jude Archer, Chase Allen, Xander Bodle, Fenton Ackley, Bentin Roberts, Wyatt Scadden, Reece Gray, Liam Cordell, and Lance Runde.
William Harding introduced the pep band that plays at every home game. Members are Georgia Taylor, Fenton Ackley, Audrie Villegas, Erin O’Connell, Chase Allen, Austin Adwell, Toryn Privett, Jordann Doty, Quentin Sickels, Jackson Taylor, and Emma Vicker.
The Parade of Floats came next. The seventh grade’s theme was, “Buzzing to the Rim and Beyond.” The eighth grade theme was, “Leaving the Wolves in the Dust.” The freshmen’s theme was, “Winner, Winner, Wolves for Dinner.” The sophomore theme was, “Put the Wolves in the Frozone.” The junior theme was, “Crushing the Wolves.” The senior theme was, “Scoring our Way to Victory.”
For the door decorations, third place went to the seniors. Second place went to the seventh grade. First place went to the juniors. For the float competition, third place went to the seniors. Second place went to the eighth grade. First place went to the freshmen.
The musical chairs basketball competition went down to the wire, with boys assistant coach Laydon Fields and elementary student Morgan Adwell the last two finalists. Morgan Adwell won the competition.
