Gage Fortner scored 21 against Albany, his third straight game of scoring 20 or more, and Ethan Henson joined him in double figures as North Harrison’s boys stunned Albany 66-40 Tuesday, February 3rd for their Senior Night.
Honored for Senior Night were boys basketball players Andrew Craig, Ethan Henson, Dustin Hamilton, Kayson Sims, Kyler Kimbrough, and cheerleader Addison Davis.
Albany was playing without Barrett Worrell in the game. Without one of their best ballhandlers, they struggled to handle North Harrison’s constant pressure and the Shamrocks fueled their run with 16 steals, led by Wyatt Maize with 6.
Gage Fortner started off the scoring with a drive and score, but Daulton Worrell countered with one of his own for Albany. But then Fortner and Maize each hit tough shots with a hand in their faces to fuel the Shamrocks. Andrew Craig followed by an inside shot to make it 8-2.
Shae Miller caught an elbow to the face and sat out, and Ryker Fortner got a tip and Wyatt Maize got a steal, leading to two more from Jensen Davis. Andrew Craig’s putback made it 12-2.
But Albany had dug themselves a hole several times, only to come back and win it. Miller came back in and provided an immediate spark as he fed Jace Palmer cutting inside to break the Shamrock run. Miller’s rejection on one end led to free throws on the other for Daulton Worrell, and Daulton came up with a loose ball following a wild scramble as time was winding down and hit a 35-footer as time expired to bring Albany to within 12-9.
Albany’s surge continued into the second quarter as Jace Palmer added a free throw and an inside shot off a pass from Jace Palmer, and Daulton Worrell’s free throw put Albany in front 13-12. Gage Fortner countered backdoor for North Harrison, but Samuel Poppa countered for Albany to make it 15-14.
But then Miller picked up his second and third fouls. He stayed in, but the calls took away his aggression, and North Harrison responded with a run that would last until the early fourth quarter, when the game was decided.
Jensen Davis knotted it up with a free throw and then Ethan Henson broke the tie with a 3-pointer.
