Phyllis “Marlene” Hall, 89 of Maryville, MO, passed away on December 8, 2024, at Parkdale Manor, Maryville.
Marlene was born on July 25, 1935, to Peter Costello Mason and Lyddia Louise (Rogers) Mason in Peru, NE. She was a 1954 graduate of Parnell High School in Parnell, MO, and later went on to earn her License Practical Nursing Degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1974.
Many years of employment working for Dr. Robert Dunshee in Maryville were enjoyed after she earned her license. She later moved to Colorado, where she continued her nursing career working for Dr. James Thompson in Ault, CO. Once retired, Marlene was excited to start a new career by driving the school bus in Eaton, CO and later in Grant City, MO. She loved the thrill of driving a “big vehicle”. She ended her driving career by driving for the OATS Transit in Maryville.
Those who knew Marlene were familiar with her cup of coffee, red lipstick and brightly polished nails. She always had more than enough time for conversation around her table, sometimes even into the wee hours of the morning. A few of the many hobbies Marlene enjoyed included bird watching, metal detecting, and quilting. As she got older her favorite pastime was watching her favorite president, President Donald Trump and Fox News.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Twila Hager; brothers, Roger and Emmett Mason.
She is survived by her daughters, Karla Bowness (John Bowness ll) of Eaton, CO and Kim Hutt (Doug Hutt) of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren: John Bowness lll (Amy Bowness) of Greeley, CO, Sarah Rogers (Travis Rogers) of Stanberry, MO , Kimberly Walker (Garrett Walker) of Montrose, CO, Tyler Hutt (Tierney Hutt) of Richardson, TX, Travis Hutt (Liz Hutt) of Midland, TX, and Tanner Hutt, (Riley Johnson) of Houston, TX, ten great- grandchildren along with one on the way in May and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made to Mosaic Hospice in care of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
As per Grammy’s (Marlene) wishes, a celebration of life will be held later in the summer of 2025, up the Poudre Canyon in Colorado.
