Rylee Ruckman Takes Over Third Quarter as Tigers Pull Away

Rylee Ruckman took over the third quarter for Worth County as they pulled away from North Harrison and got a 23-6 win Monday. Coach Ashton Lewis said before the game that they would be fine once they got the first game jitters out of the way in their 22-8 loss to Stanberry, and they backed it up with lockdown defense and Ruckman getting loose on the floor.

Points were tough to come by in the first quarter; the only points were a putback by Abbi Brown and another play where Brown got a steal, got it to Rylee Ruckman, who pushed it ahead to Bridgette Hightshoe for the finish to make it 4-0 after one. Brown was patrolling the paint, getting 4 blocks for the night and cleaning up on the glass.

Hightshoe knocked down another shot for the Tigers, and then Brylea Paxson knocked down a 3-pointer to make it 9-0. North Harrison was playing hard, but they found points hard to come by Monday.

Ruckman started her outburst in the third quarter with a shot from the high post. She scored her last ten points in a two minute span late in the third; first, Bailey Steele got a tip and Ruckman got a steal and finish. Then, Ruckman drove right through the green shirts like they weren’t even there for another finish, chased down another steal after a ball scramble and got a layup off that, then got a tip and Abbi Brown got a steal and fed her for the finish. When the dust has settled, Worth County was in control up 21-0, and Ruckman padded the stat line with 12 points, 12 boards, 8 tips, and 9 steals, nearly getting a quadruple double.
