Obituary -- Gary Constant 1938-2020

Gary Dean Constant , 81, formerly of Sheridan, Mo. passed away Friday, March 13, 2020. He was born on October 24, 1938 in Sheridan, MO to Dale and Vetra (Van Ausdall) Constant. Graduating from Sheridan High School in 1956, Gary served stateside in the Army for 2 years.

After returning home, he raised cattle on the family farm and worked as a carpenter. He met and married the love of his life, Betty Schupp on May 28, 1966 in St. Joseph Missouri. He gained not only a wife but also a beautiful daughter, Diana Marie. Their little family was completed the following year with the birth of a daughter, Lori Kay. 

Gary served as a county commissioner and west court judge for worth county in the 1970’s.

Gary not only loved working with livestock but was also an entrepreneur.
Over the years, Gary and Betty owned and operated the Sheridan Tavern, the Sheridan Drug Store and Sheridan Service.

The greatest joys of his life were his family and his relationship with God. He enjoyed nothing more then spending time with his children and grandchildren.

His loving wife Betty passed away in 2003, forever leaving a emptiness in his life. With the support of his granddaughter and family, Gary stayed on earth for another 17 years.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, daughter Diana Troutwine; parents Dale and Vetra; sisters Leta Wake, Doris Jean Chancellor, and Willa Wilson, brother Roy Constant and infant brother Jimmy Constant.

Gary is survived by his daughter Lori Haws and her two kids, Paxson Haws and A.J Supinger; grandchildren Travis Troutwine (Shelly), Tyson Troutwine, Tiffany Troutwine (Kayla); and 7 great grandchildren, Tonya, Travis Jr., Sidney, Garrett, Kallen, Tenley and Brentley; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Wednesday March 18 at 11am at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Mo. Burial will be at Sheridan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Village Care in Maryville, Mo.
