He was drafted into service during the Korean War, he elected to join the Marines. After an honorable discharge he started working nights while attending the University of Omaha where he earned a BBA in Finance and began his family with his wife of 58 years, Marilyn. They had three boys Steven (Martha), Randal and Scott. They moved to Kansas City and then on to Memphis with both parents retiring from the IRS.
His finance degree and frugal beginnings served him well as he enjoyed a long retirement with Marilyn, the three boys and their families, friends and neighbors that they helped in any way they could. A man of few words with a quiet voice but when he had something to say one would be wise to listen. Loved by all, disliked by no one, he will be sorely missed in a world where doing the right thing for others instead of yourself seems less and less common.
