Courthouse News for March 25th, 2020

On March 15th, Travis Mayer (35) of Essex (IA) was charged in Page County with 23 counts of Violation of a Protection Order. This is in addition to earlier charges that were filed against him.

On March 15th, Caldwell County Prosecutor Brady Kopek filed charges against Thomas Kepler (17) of Rayville (MO) alleging Assault (Felony), Armed Criminal Action (Felony), and Property Damage (Felony). Bond was set at $100,000, cash only, with defendant to be supervised and to have no contact with the victim. Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges resulted from an incident in which the defendant allegedly assaulted someone with a box cutter knife.

On March 16th, Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Beth Gibson filed charges against Chad Budds (33) of Cameron alleging Assault (Felony). Northwest Mo Info reported that the charges arose from an incident in which he allegedly punched another inmate at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail, resulting in injuries requiring stitches.

On March 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Danial Liess (34) of Clearmont in Nodaway County on charges of DWI and Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway (Accident).

On March 16th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Duane Belcher (62) of Bethany  in Harrison County on charges of DWI (Felony), Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), and No Insurance.

On March 16th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Heber Aguilar (17) of Albany alleging Assault (Felony) and Armed Criminal Action (Felony). Bond was set at $4,950.

On March 16th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Richard Pickard (36) of Maryville alleging Assault (Felony).

On March 17th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Sara Service (27) of Guilford alleging No Valid License.

On March 17th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Kevin Ray (30) of Redding alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing (Felony).

On March 17th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Jennifer Baker (53) of Mount Ayr alleging Burglary (Felony) and Stealing (Felony).

On March 17th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Deven Taylor (23) of King City in Gentry County on charges of DWI and Failure to Register.

On March 17th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Nichole Ott (36) and David Giles (34) of Diagonal on a Union County warrant for Burglary.

On March 18th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Tiana Johnson (46) of Kansas City alleging DWI (Prior) and Failure to Place Vehicle Not in Motion as Near Right Side of Road as Practicable.

On March 18th, KMA reports that an off-duty Adams County (IA) Sheriff’s Deputy observed a man littering in the streets of Corning. An investigation found marijuana and hydrocodone in the bag. Richard Allen Swartz (63) of Corning was subsequently charged with Distribution of Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Distributing Tobacco to a Minor, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Littering.

On March 19th, Northwest Mo Info reports that Livingston County deputies were involved in an officer-involved shooting. Deputies stopped a vehicle in Wheeling (MO). A deputy shot the individual, who was pronounced dead. A deputy was treated and released.

On March 19th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Courtney Clemens (29), Zachary Day (31), and Buddy Burt (32) of Kansas City alleging 2 counts Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony), and Stealing. Bond was set at $20,000, cash only.

On March 20th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Randy Randle (50) of Cainsville alleging No Valid License.

On March 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Charles White (48) of St. Joseph alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony) and Receiving Stolen Property.

On March 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Shawn DeFreece (49) of Ravenwood alleging Stealing (Felony), Tampering with Service of Utility or Institution (Felony), and Receiving Stolen Property.

On March 20th, the St. Joseph Police issued a missing person’s report for Jon McCarthy. He was described as 6’4”, 220 pounds, around 60, and hazel eyes. He was last seen on a Black Yamaha Sport Bike with Nebraska plates. He was last seen on March 14th at a relative’s house on Highway 6 in St. Joseph. On March 20th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Thomas Gilliland (21) of Maryville alleging Trespass.

On March 21st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jake Sayre (23) of Kansas City alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident) and Leaving the Scene.

On March 21st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Donte Glover (23) of Maryville alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident) and Driving While Revoked.

On March 21st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Jeffrey Bartles (43) of Coin alleging Driving While Revoked, No Insurance, and Failure to Register.

The Lamoni Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating an individual wanted on 15 felony counts. They are asking the public to contact them with any information on 29-year-old Juan Antonio Frazier. Frazier is described as African-American, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 142 pounds, brown eyes, and black hair. He is wanted on 1 count of 3rd degree burglary and 13 counts of forgery. On March 22nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Larry Wilson (56) of Albany in Gentry County on a charge of DWI.

On 03/22/2020, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred at the First Heritage Bank, in Farragut, Fremont County, Iowa. Deputies observed between the hours of 2 AM and 3 AM, two males entered the First Heritage Bank entryway and using tools, accessed the ATM, removing an unspecified amount of money. Deputies contacted the FBI, Omaha Field Office to assist with the investigation. Two male suspects in the theft are also wanted in connection to several other similar thefts in northwestern Iowa. On March 23rd, Christopher Blair (33) of Turney (MO) was charged with Stealing (Felony). Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after he had allegedly stolen the gun from his uncle, who was living in Lathrop, and attempted to take it to a pawn shop.

On March 23rd, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Donald Moad (48) of Albany alleging Domestic Assault (Felony). Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after he had allegedly pushed someone into a wall so hard, it left a hole in the sheetrock, causing physical injuries. Bond was set at $4,950, posted by the defendant.

On March 23rd, Northwest Mo Info reports that a robbery suspect, Sammy Woodard (31) of Dallas (TX), was arrested in Lamoni after he had allegedly robbed a convenience store in Waukee (IA), which is on the west side of Des Moines.

On March 23rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Josiah Brown (21) of Bethany alleging Driving While Revoked.

On March 23rd, the Red Oak (IA) police department arrested Nathan Mulhausen (25) of Red Oak on a charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Felony).

On March 23rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested John Hall (55) of Harrisonville (MO) in Nodaway County on a Clinton County Warrant (Driving Under the Influence). He was also charged with Driving While Revoked (Felony) and Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony).

On March 23rd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges against Sean Watson (25) of Maryville alleging No Valid License and No Insurance.

On March 23rd, Special Prosecutor Barbara Klima filed charges against Max Shafer (32) of Maryville in Nodaway County alleging Non-Support (Felony).

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
