Cop Chase Leads to Accident; Three Injured

A cop chase led to an accident in which three people were injured Saturday in Trenton. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by Robert Ellis (34) of Independence was southbound on Normal Street in Trenton and a 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Bradley Shelton (26) of Trenton was eastbound on Route 6 at around 4:39 pm.

The Patrol says the Stratus was attempting to elude law enforcement on Normal Street, failed to stop at a stop sign, and into the path of the Fusion. The Fusion struck the Stratus on the passenger side, traveled off the right side, and came to rest facing east. The Stratus traveled off the west side of Normal Street and struck a tree, skidded in a counterclockwise rotation, and came to rest in a gravel parking lot.

Ellis received minor injuries in the accident. Shelton received moderate injuries, while a passenger in the Shelton vehicle, Ashley Donohue (26) of Chillicothe, received minor injuries. The Patrol says the Ellis vehicle was not insured.
