Gerry Runde's Career Night Not Enough for NEN Girls

Northeast Nodaway's girls have struggled to put together a competitive game since losing Taylor Coffelt in the DeKalb game (knee). Tuesday night, Gerry Runde did all she could to put Northeast in the winning column, putting together 22 points, including six from behind the arc against Nodaway-Holt. That was enough to keep the game close for a half, as Northeast trailed by five at 27-22 at the break. But then all hell broke loose in the second half as Nodaway-Holt pulled away for a 68-37 win as Amanda Bohannon scored 27 and Breanna Day scored 19 for them. Makayla Adwell had 13 and Gabby Briney scored 2 for Northeast. The NEN boys showed that their improvement from last year was no accident as they won over Nodaway-Holt, who placed second at Mound City, 64-45. They are now at 4-1 for the year and have exceeded their win total from last year.
