Fatal Accident in Trenton

A fatal accident was reported in Trenton Friday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a Chevy 2500 driven by Austin VanHoutan (20) was eastbound on 28th street 1/2 mile east of Highway 65 at Trenton at around 10:45 am. The Patrol reports that the Chevy traveled off the south side, continued down an embankment, and became airborne off of the creek bank. The front end of the vehicle impacted the creek bed and came to rest on the driver's side facing southwest. Mr. VanHoutan was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled in the accident. The accident was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Trenton Police Department, Grundy County Sheriff, and Trenton Fire & EMS.
