Norman Runyan 1937-2025

Norman Eugene Runyon was born June 19, 1937 to Monte and Nina West Runyon. He passed away on December 26, 2025 at the Village Care Center in Maryville, MO at the age of 88.

Norman graduated from Sheridan High School in 1955. He served in the Missouri National Guard. In 1959 he graduated from University of Missouri with a Forestry degree. He worked in Shannon and Perry County in Missouri as a forester and later moved back to the family farm in 1969.

In 1959 Norman married Darlene Thomas and to this union three children were born; Jana Lynn and twins Stanley Dean and Steven Eugene. He was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church, serving as a deacon and an elder. He also served on the board of the Production Credit Association and the Worth County School Board. After retiring from farming, Norman served 14 years in mission work with Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, camping, and sitting on the porch visiting with family.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and his grandson Logan Thomas Runyon.

Norman is loved by and leaves a legacy to his wife Evelyn Darlene Runyon, three children, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. They include; Jana Finch and husband Duane, Steven Runyon and wife Andrea, and Stanley Runyon and wife Nancy.

Norman’s grandchildren include; Jenny Joaquin (Manny), Sarah Finch, Daniel Finch (Deshay), Caroline Copeland (JW), Molly Vannoy (Ray), Olivia Castellanos (Alejandro), Levi Runyon (Hannah), and Jaque Colwell.

His great grandchildren include; Jude, Thomas, and Killian Finch; Steven, Jordon, Will, and Lillian Copeland; Josie, Wilder, and Eli Vannoy; Indigo and Arlo Castellanos; Nash and Annie Runyon; Silas and Lorelai Colwell. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Sheridan Christian Church in Sheridan, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Isadora Cemetery in Isadora, Missouri. Arrangements are under direction of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri.
