Joan Alice (Kinsella) Ford, age 81, Grant City, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Mosaic Medical Center in Albany, Missouri.
Joan was born on October 3, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late John Arthur and Maxine Cecil (Moore) Fulton.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Kinsella. To this union three children were born, Larry, Joana and Matthew. They were later divorced. On Valentine’s Day 1991 she was married to Robert Ford in Key Colony Beach, Florida.
Joan was a graduate of Breckenridge High School, Breckenridge, Missouri. After high school she attended the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. While attending school in Kansas City she played professional women’s basketball in the Pepsi League.
Joan loved her sports, all sports. She had been the girls’ basketball coach for Bishop-Hogan High School in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Joan was very active in her community. She was a former board member of the Worth County Senior Citizens Center, Grant City. She was instrumental in organizing and participating in the Older Adults Transportation System (OATS), helping others gain mobility to various places in the community. She also loved all kinds of flowers and gardening; with the beauty and joy they brought to her and others. Joan was at home in her kitchen canning jams, jellies, pickles and baking various treats which she often gave to friends.
She was preceded in death by husbands Lawrence A. Kinsella and Robert Ford.
Her survivors include three children, Larry (Janet) Kinsella, Grant City, Joana (Adam) Pierce, Duck Key, Florida, Matt (Sherri) Kinsella, Ravenwood, Missouri, six grandchildren Dylan and Drake Kinsella, Kyle Pierce, Kylin (Dr. Sam) Hawkins, Zane Kinsella, and Marie Coffelt, two great grandchildren Henry and Darcy Hawkins, and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Joan’s body has been cremated under the care of the Hann Funeral Home in Grant City.
A memorial visitation will be held Monday, December 22 at the Hann Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, Missouri.
