Tiger Girls Keep Coming Close but Fall Short

Worth County’s girls game close to three more tough teams, but fell short every time. Out of their 18 games, 13 have been against teams that are .500 or better. Out of the sub .500 teams they have lost to, all three of them, Pattonsburg, Stanberry, and North Andrew, are capable of beating anyone on a given night. 

Against Pattonsburg, Worth County led the Panthers 12-8 after one, building on their lone win of the year against North Harrison. But Pattonsburg came back to tie it at 17 at the half and then pulled away for the 54-39 win.

Kynah Steele had 14 for the Tigers. Kristen Tracy had 11, Riley Ridge had a career high with 8, Rylee Ruckman had 4, and Keira Hardy 2. Worth County was 16 for 49 from the field for 33%. Ruckman had the lone 3-pointer. Worth County was 6 for 11 from the line. 

The Tigers collected a season high 40 rebounds, but turned the ball over 35 times. Kristen Tracy had 10 boards. Kynah Steele had 9, Rylee Ruckman and Riley Ridge 6, Kambree Briner 5, Keira Hardy 3, and Rayleigh Smith 1. 

Keira Hardy had 4 assists. Kristen Tracy and Rylee Ruckman had 3, Kynah Steele 2, and Rylee Ruckman 1. 

Kambree Briner had 4 steals. Kynah Steele and Keira Hardy had 2, and Rylee Ruckman and Kristen Tracy 1.

Riley Ridge, Rayleigh Smith, Rylee Ruckman, Kynah Steele, and Kristen Tracy all had 1 block.

Kambree Briner had 5 tips. Keira Hardy had 3, Riley Ridge and Kristen Tracy 2 each, and Rylee Ruckman and Kynah Steele had 1.

The Tigers dug themselves into a 17-4 hole against the Lions, who had nearly knocked off top-rated Platte Valley at North Platte. But they recovered to play them evenly the rest of the game before falling 52-41. Kynah Steele had 14 points. Riley Ridge had a career high 13. Kambree Briner had 6, Kristen Tracy 5, and Keira Hardy 3. Worth County was 17 for 34 from the field for 50%. Riley Ridge, Kynah Steele, and Keira Hardy had 1 three pointer each. Worth County was 4 for 12 from the line.

Kynah Steele had 10 rebounds. Kristen Tracy had 6, Riley Ridge 4, Rylee Ruckman 3, and Kambree Briner 1.

Kynah Steele had 4 assists. Kambree Briner and Kristen Tracy had 2, and Rylee Ruckman and Keira Hardy had 1.

Against Mound City Monday, the Tigers fell behind 13-1 after one quarter, but once again they fought back. They got the deficit under double digits by the end of the third quarter, and at one point trailed 45-43 with the ball and a chance to tie or take the lead in the fourth quarter. But they could not convert, and they were forced to foul and Mound City made their free throws at the end to convert the 50-43 win.

Rylee Ruckman had 13 for the Tigers. Keira Hardy had a career high 10. Kynah Steele had 7, Kristen Tracy 6, Riley Ridge 4, and Kambree Briner 3. Worth County was 17 for 45 from the field for 38%. Rylee Ruckman broke out of a shooting slump, hitting 3 three pointers. Keira Hardy had 2. Worth County was 4 for 8 from the line.

Kristen Tracy had 6 rebounds. Kynah Steele, Rylee Ruckman, and Riley Ridge had 5, Kambree Briner 3, and Keira Hardy 1.

After seeking a spike in turnovers their last two games, Worth County cut them down to 20.
