Jack Boswell, Jill Boswell named NEN Homecoming Royalty for 2024

Jack Boswell and Jill Boswell were named Northeast Nodaway Homecoming royalty for 2024 Thursday. Prince and Princess were Liam Cordell and Rylee Scadden. Other candidates were Dalanie Auffert, Aubrey Munns, Brycen Kennard, and Grant McIntyre. Junior attendants were Sasha Deardorff and Kyler Scadden. Sophomore attendants were Jolyn Burns and Austin Adwell. Freshman attendants were Sevaria Hall and Toryn Privett. The other prince and princess candidates were Bristol Hicks and Brayden Miller. Crownbearers were Laken Spire and Cotton Adwell. They were assisted by last year’s queen, Jaden Atkins.

Winners of the Spirit Poster contest were the 7th graders, followed by the seniors and the juniors. The door decoration contest was won by the seniors decorating the gym door. The seventh graders were second, decorating the custodian’s door. The sophomores were third, decorating Mr. Jenkins’ office door. The seniors won the float contest, followed by the juniors, and then a tie for third between the seventh and eighth graders.

The musical chairs contest was wild as usual, with members of the boys and girls basketball teams and the cheerleaders picking people from the audience to compete. Chase Allen picked Tiger football coach Jon Adwell, apparently in return for all the yelling and hills assigned in practices. Drew Dack picked his coach, Mitchell Sherry. Jill Boswell picked her brother, Ben. There was one husband and wife rivalry on display as both Matt and Jamie Busby were picked. Naturally, that led to an interesting discussion at the dinner table afterwards. It came down to a three way matchup between Zach Pride, Mitchell Sherry, and Ben Boswell, all of whom still had it. Finally, Ben beat out Mitchell in a photo finish to secure a two-time title and show that he still had it and that Jill’s confidence in him was justified.
