Area Courthouse, Police, and Crime Reports for February 7th, 2024

On January 25th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that Richard Truex (61) of Clarinda was slowing down to make a turn off Highway 2 onto 270th Avenue. A vehicle driven by Landry McGahuey (42) attempted to pass and was struck by the Truex vehicle. There were no injures. 

On January 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that Payton Gregg (19) was northbound on Highway 169 at 8:04 am when she lost control of her 2008 Chevy Silverado due to frost covered roads and overturned. Other motorists were able to help her get out. She was not injured.

On January 31st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office executed a warrant at a rental home in Mount Ayr. Subsequently, the following individuals were arrested. Dakota Burkhamer was arrested on charges of Drug Distribution to Person Under 18 (Felony), Child Endangerment, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $27,600, cash only. Mikkaela Moore was arrested on charges of Child Endangerment, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $2,600, cash only. Subsequently, an additional charge was filed against Moore alleging Drug Distribution (Person under 18). Her bond was raised to $27,600, cash only.

On January 31st, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Wes Aborn (46) of King City alleging Stealing (Felony). An affidavit from a citizen alleges the defendant put a bid on HVAC work they needed done at their house. The defendant allegedly requested and obtained $5,000 down, saying they needed it for supplies. Since that day, the defendant allegedly never purchased the supplies, performed the work, or refunded their money. 

On February 1st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Albert Ferguson (39) of Maryville alleging Burglary (Felony) and Trespassing. An affidavit from the Maryville Police Department alleges that the defendant entered a store from which he had been barred and stole various food items valued at $24.26. Bond was set at $5,000 signature bond.

On February 1st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Paul Wilmes (41) of Maryville alleging Child Abuse (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000 signature bond.

On February 1st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department reported that Shelby Nash (43) of Omaha allegedly attempted to cash three fraudulent checks in Ringgold County on January 18th. Subsequently, she was arrested in Omaha and extradited back to Ringgold County. She was charged with Theft. Bond was set at $10,000, cash only.

On February 2nd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Michelle LaTour (34) of Maryville alleging Child Abuse (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000 signature bond.

On February 4th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Dallas Earley (29) of Mount Ayr on charges of Driving While Revoked, Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $4,300, cash only.

On February 5th, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department reported that a 71 year old woman who had been missing since January 6th was found safe. 

On February 6th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Justin Wink (43) of Martinsville alleging Witness Tampering (Felony). Bond was set at $5,000.

Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
