University of Missouri Extension partners with the Regional Arthritis Center to offer a free diabetes self-management program, beginning Monday, October 2, 2023.
The six-week program series is scheduled to be held at the fairground building in Grant City, on Mondays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; November 6 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The weekly sessions are for individuals who have diabetes or who are a caregiver for someone with diabetes. Participants learn strategies for managing their health.
Debbie Bennett and Kaylie Walker, MU Extension field specialists in nutrition and health education, share practical information, including eating well and exercise, establishing self-care routines, relaxation and handling difficult emotions, problem-solving to address barriers, communicating with healthcare professionals, and managing medications.
There is no charge to attend due to federal grant funding through Northwest Missouri Regional Arthritis Center. Participants receive the book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, and a Relaxation for the Mind and Body CD.
