Courthouse News for September 13th, 2023

On September 3rd, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Claude Harper (63) of Kellerton on a charge of Disorderly Conduct. Bond was set at $300, cash only.

On September 5th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Shane Garland (33) of King City alleging Stealing (Felony). An affidavit from the Gentry County Sheriff’s Department alleges that the defendant stole a nailer, nailer clip, and nailer battery valued at $778.24 with tax. Bond was set at $2,000, cash or corporate surety.

On September 6th, Nicholas Orozco (38) of Topeka (KS) was ordered extradited from Gentry County to Wyandotte County (KS) by Judge Rebecca McGinley on a Warrant for Failure to Appear (Probation Violation).

On September 6th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Nicholas Radcliff (36) of Granger (IA) in Worth County on charges of DWI (Felony) and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). 

On September 6th, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department reported that a DeKalb teen went missing. The teen was subsequently found safe in Kirksville.

On September 6th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Josh Standiford (32) of Maryville alleging DWI and Driving While Revoked. 

On September 6th, Worth County Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison filed charges against Sherry Howe (57) of Temple (TX) alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). 

On September 6th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Tina Dieter filed charges against Najaee Harrell (24) of Indianapolis (IN), Christian Long (22) of Pearland (TX), and Jonathan Jones (36) of Cypress (TX) alleging Tampering with Motor Vehicle (Felony), Receiving Stolen Property (Felony), Possession of Burglary Tools (Felony), and Property Damage. An affidavit from the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department alleges that the charges arose after an attempted burglary at a storage unit in Pickering. A Dodge pickup was located at the storage unit that did not belong to either the owner of the unit or one of his customers; a VIN check found that the vehicle had been stolen in Atlantic (IA). Bond for Harrell and Long was set at $20,000, cash or corporate surety. Bond for Jones was denied. Subsequently, on September 11th, defendants Harrell and Long were ordered extradited to Cass County (IA) on warrants for Theft and Burglary charges.

On September 8th, Jeri Samuel (25) of St. Joseph was arrested in Nodaway County on warrants from Atchison County (KS) alleging Resisting Arrest (Felony) and Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony). Extradition was ordered by Judge Robert Rice.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted child abduction around 7:15 pm on September 8th, 2023. It was reported that a minor female was approached by an unknown male that was described as a white, older, heavy set with a bushy white beard. The vehicle was described as newer silver passenger van with a large window in the back. This happened in Clearfield. On September 10th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Leeanna Overstreet (20) of St. Joseph in Nodaway County on charges of DWI and Speeding.

On September 10th, Harrison County Prosecutor Alex Van Zandt filed charges against Matthew Doty (39) of Cainsville alleging DWI.

On September 11th, Northwest Mo Info reported that the OSHA fined Troyer Roofing & Coatings of Jamesport over $200,000 after an 18 year old worker fell over 22 feet on March 22nd and died five days later. They alleged that a foreman and another worker kept working without fall protection after the incident, employees were not properly trained on safety equipment, and its use was optional.

Charges listed are merely allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
