Courthouse News for August 5th, 2021

On July 24th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Donald Fore (52) of McFall alleging Resisting Arrest.

On July 27th, the Nodaway County Health Department announced that a second bat had tested positive for rabies in the county.

On July 27th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Lacy Miller (35) of Maryville alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony). Judge Robert Rice recused himself from the case and Judge McGinley was assigned. Bond was set at $5,000, cash only. 

On July 28th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Chad King (38) of Hopkins alleging DWI (Persistent, Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), and Property Damage (Felony). Bond was denied.

On July 28th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Dalton Hobson (21) of Pattonsburg alleging Statutory Rape. Bond was set at $25,000, with defendant given leave to post 10% cash.

On July 28th, `Baker Land and Cattle` (driven by Micheal Baker) was waiting to turn into a farm driveway off Hwy 2 east of Kellerton.  The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department says James Dowler of Kellerton didn’t see the vehicle of Baker’s and struck the back end of it.  Both Baker’s 2017 Dodge 3500 and Dowler’s 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix sustained major damage.  Dowler was transported by ambulance to the Ringgold County Hospital for evaluation.  Dowler was charged with Failure to provide proof of financial liability- accident.

On July 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Trevor Baker (25) of Pattonsburg alleging DWI.

On July 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Michael Chamberlain (42) of Blythedale alleging DWI and No Valid License.

On July 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against McKinley Hoogeveen (27) of Maryville alleging DWI (Prior) and Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident). 

On July 29th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Aaron Sartin (33) of Willard (MO) alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident), two counts Driving While Revoked, and No Insurance.

On July 30th, the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office reported that a two vehicle accident in Wilcox completely shut down traffic on Route 71, and that traffic was diverted.

On July 30th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Emma Owen (26) of Kansas City (KS) alleging Speeding (26+ mph over) and Possession of Marijuana.

On July 31st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Johnathan Chumbley of Mount Ayr on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $300 cash, posted by the defendant.

On July 31st, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested Taylor Schaffer of Mount Ayr on charges of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On July 31st, Special Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Justin Dye (20) of Sheridan in Worth County alleging two counts Assault. Prosecutor Janet Wake Larison disqualified herself from the case.

On the evening of July 31st, kids climbed the flagpole at the Sheridan Park, took down the flag, placed it on the ground, and broke the rope and one of the clips. They also overturned one picnic table and placed another one on top of the shelter house roof.

On August 1st, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Marshall Norris (22) of Bethany in Harrison County on a charge of DWI.

On August 1, 2021 at approximately 10:33 pm Taylor County Deputies were called to the 200 block of East Michigan Street in Lenox for a report of a man trying to gain entry into an occupied residence.  Upon arrival Deputies located Eduardo Cantu-Diaz, 44, of Lenox. Cantu-Diaz immediately became combative and a taser was successfully deployed.   Cantu-Diaz was subsequently charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd and Interference with Official Acts.  Cantu-Diaz is being held on $5,300 bond, pending an initial appearance before the Magistrate. 

On August 2nd, Nichole Ott (38) of Thayer (IA) was picked up in Clarke County on multiple Ringgold County Warrants. Bond was set at $10,600.

On August 2nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Gregory Goode (28) of Marshall (MO) alleging Making a False Report.

On August 2nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Payton Schieffer (20) of Maryville in Nodaway County on a Holt County Warrant for Failure to Appear (Traffic Violation).

On August 2nd, the Sheridan CBC reported they had found three of the 17 flags that were stolen several weeks ago, but were still missing 14.

On August 2nd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Ron Randle (56) of Bedford in Harrison County on a charge of No Valid License and a Harrison County Warrant (No Valid License). 

On August 3rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Barbara Rairden (30) of Bethany alleging Assault.

On August 3rd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Kevin Nible (44) of Bethany alleging two counts Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony), Littering (Physical Injury or Property Damage), No Insurance, No Valid Motorcycle License, and No Tab on Plate.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
