Worth County to Have Showdown Against Panthers; King City Revives, Mound City Crushes Wolves

#1 Worth County 52, St. Joseph Christian 0
Worth County had little trouble with a Lions squad with a depleted roster. Out of 18 players that were listed in the program, only 13 were dressed out and on the sideline for Friday’s game.
For Worth County, Jacob New was 4 for 6 for 53 yards. Caleb Parman had 6 carries for 67 yards, Andrew Alarcon 1 carry for 58 yards, and Alex Rinehart 2 carries for 22 yards. Bryant McCord had 3 catches for 25 yards, and Caleb Parman 1 catch for 28 yards. The Tigers had “only” 198 total yards, but they had a short field on one possession, a blocked punt, and two defensive touchdowns. They only needed 16 plays to score their 52 points.

For Worth County, Colton Wilmes and Andrew Alarcon had 11 tackles each. Isaac Alarcon had 7, Caleb Parman 6, Austin Welch 5, Jaxon Anderson 4, Bryant McCord, Aydan Gladstone, Alex Rinehart, and Jackson Runde 2, and Jeremy Wimer 1.

Worth County will now face Pattonsburg at home this Friday, and they will know right away how well they stack up against one of the better teams in eight man football.

#2 Stanberry 44, #6 North Andrew 36
In a hard-hitting game, Stanberry struggled to shake off North Andrew before finally taking a 44-28 lead in the fourth quarter and North Andrew could not answer until right before the end. North Andrew, with five players on the field who played little either in varsity or JV last year, is showing rapid improvement as the year progresses.

Trey Schieber had 26 carries for 189 yards for Stanberry. Cole Durbin had 14 carries for 90 yards, while Rueben Gage had 9 carries for 66 yards. For North Andrew, Logan Hughes had 25 carries for 142 yards, while Jaden Baker had 18 carries for 122 yards. Stanberry outgained North Andrew, but the Cardinals kept hanging around until the end.

#3 Mound City 62, #8 East Atchison 12
This game out out of hand early, with Mound City scoring 28 points in the first quarter to take a 28-6 lead. East Atchison completed some long passes and got a long run to make it 36-12 in the second quarter, but Mound City reestablished control, taking a 50-12 halftime lead. The game was called in the third quarter after the Panthers scored two more times.

#4 Pattonsburg 60, Norborne/Hardin-Central 8
Pattonsburg managed to get back on the winning track after their first loss of the season to Stanberry, getting 423 yards in the air and another 52 on the ground. Norborne/Hardin-Central tried to follow Stanberry’s lead and pound the Panthers into oblivion, getting 50 carries for the game, but only getting 106 yards to show for it.

#5 King City 66, #9 Rock Port 20
King City got standout runningback Jacob Moen back, and the Wildkats were a totally different team Friday as they rolled to the victory over Rock Port. King City took a 42-6 lead at the half and went on to end it in the fourth quarter.

Collin Breckinridge completed 12 of his 19 passing attempts for 191 yards and three scores. He ran for another 93 yards, while Jacob Moen added 62, providing a valuable second option for King City. Kagen Barnett had 5 catches for 73 yards, Hunter Abney 5 catches for 71 yards, and Jacob Moen 2 catches for 47 yards. Braden Gilbert had 21 tackles, while Abney returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
For Rock Port, Gavin Abbott had 25 carries for 112 yards and Joey Herron had 6 carries for 56 yards as the Blue Jays tried in vain to pound the ball at King City in an effort to keep Breckinridge and Moen off the field.

#7 Southwest Livingston 52, Platte Valley 6
Mack Anderson gashed the Longhorns both with his arm and his legs. He completed 6 of his 10 passing attempts for 123 yards and had 7 carries for 187 yards as Southwest won easily. Anderson also added a punt return for a touchdown. Nate Reith had 2 catches for 51 yards, Wyatt Maddux 2 catches for 45 yards, and Caleb Eddins 1 catch for 22 yards. Balazs Sturgeon had 16 tackles, while Caleb Eddins had 13, Mack Anderson 12, and Jaeden Sears 10. Dalton Luke did all he could for Platte Valley, getting 23 carries for 116 yards.

#10 Orrick 60, K.C. East Christian 0
Seth McAfee threw for 144 yards and ran for another 197 as the Bearcats remained undefeated. McAfee completed 9 of his 14 passing attempts. He had 15 carries for 197 yards. Blake Buchanan had 9 carries for 48 yards, Ethan Wilson 6 carries for 26 yards, Gabe McAfee 3 carries for 16 yards, and Caleb Stegner 7 carries for 10 yards. Gabe McAfee had 4 catches for 97 yards. Ethan Wilson had four picks for the Bearcats to fuel the rout.

OTHER GAMES
South/Nodaway-Holt 58, Stewartsville 8

After an 0-3 start, the Spartans have come roaring back, winning their last three to even out their record at 3-3. They will be next in line to try and stop the Mound City Panther juggernaut Friday. Drew Quinlin has established himself as one of the top passers in the area, getting another 101 Friday, while Taran Clark rushed 22 times for 174 yards. Quinlin added another 77 as the Spartans rolled up 353 total yards.

Albany 66, Braymer 18
After a horrific stretch against Mound City and Worth County, Albany seems to have found their stride, winning their last two to even their record at 3-3, far from what many observers had expected. However, they still have tough games against North Andrew, King City, and Pattonsburg coming up. They racked up 536 yards against Braymer, getting 229 through the air and another 307 on the ground as they made the long road trip worthwhile.
