Daniel Edwin King, second son born to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin King on December 22, 1953 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, brother Phil is the first son. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife Ruby and brother-in-law Rick on Sunday evening October 7, 2018.
He grew up around Blockton on the farm. He attended Blockton and Bedford Schools.
Dan started driving semi-trucks at 16 years old. He wanted to have 50 years driving in but only had 48 due to his sickness.
Dan was the president of the Waubonsie Antique Tractor Club of Benton, Iowa. They enjoyed short tractor rides, eating and visiting before they headed back home. He also enjoyed having his tractor in Clearfield and Mt. Ayr County Fair parades where he rode with his brother-in-law Rick Morse. Dan was a member of the Sons of American Legion in Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
Dan had 4 children. His daughter Sydney and grandson Hayden who preceded him in 2016; Chris and wife Megan, grandson Beckham King; daughters: Lacey King and Jennifer and Dustin and 2 grandsons; special nephew Jon and Ashleigh and 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Also preceding Dan in death were his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are wife Ruby M. King of the home in Redding, son Christopher and wife Megan and grandson Beckham King of Corning, Iowa; brother Phil and wife Myrna King of Bedford, Iowa, like a son Jon and wife Ashleigh and family of Grant City, Missouri and many more family and friends.
Dan liked to give and help others, never knowing a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Blockton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
