Four and Five Leaf Clovers Bring Good Luck as Tigers Win Varsity and JV Matches vs. South Harrison

Adrian Fletchall found four four-leaf clovers and one five-leaf clover before Worth County's GRC game with South Harrison Tuesday night, which turned out to be a good luck charm. Her mother said that she has an eye for those to the point where she has biked along dirt roads, stopped, and picked them out. One of the football players, who shall remain nameless, swore that the five-leaf clover was bad luck; however, the scoreboard suggested otherwise. The varsity game ended early when the Tigers won 11-0 in five innings. The JV proceeded to win 5-2 in the nightcap.

For Worth County, it was their third win in a row following two straight in Albany Saturday. It was also their third straight against South Harrison, reversing several years of futility. It was also the first three-game winning streak for Worth County in two years; they have now matched their win total from last year. South Harrison was better than last year; they hit the ball better. But their pitcher was slow and they struggled in the field; on the other end, Worth County made some plays in the field to keep the Bulldogs off the board.

South Harrison got runners on first and third after Victoria Moore tagged Brooklyn Virtue out and threw to first to retire Carley Wilhelm. But catcher Payton Adwell threw out Madisyn Lisle out stealing to get Worth County out of the first.

Pitcher Rikky Hunt helped herself out in the bottom of the inning as she walked, stole second, and took third as an errant return throw got by the pitcher and catcher. Payton Adwell flied out to bring her home. Rachael Gardner reached on a dropped third strike after Hailey Hunt walked and stole second; the errant throw brought Hailey home. After Gardner stole second, Mollie Blaine, who hit well in the tournament, continued to have the hot hand as she doubled to the wall in right to second Gardner. After Victoria Moore and Brooklyn White walked to load the bases, consecutive errors by South Harrison's shortstop brought home Blaine and Moore. Payton Adwell's single brought home White for the final run, putting Worth County up 6-0.

South Harrison got a single from Sierra Deskins in the second, but after an errant pitch rolled in the dirt, Payton Adwell was able to get to it and throw her out stealing. Worth County added a run in the bottom of the inning when Mollie Blaine dug a pitch out of the dirt and singled to right to plate Gardner to make it 7-0.

Consecutive bunt singles from Rikky Hunt and Payton Adwell jump-started the third inning for Worth County. Hailey Hunt laid down another bunt and the first baseman let a throw get by and South Harrison also threw away a throw home as Hunt made it all the way to third. Rachael Gardner grounded out to score Hunt to make it 10-0. Victoria Moore hit a shot off third baseman Kennedi Virtue's glove that was just fair and later scored on Sidney Troutwine's groundout for Worth County's final run in the fourth. Worth County shortstop Sidney Troutwine threw a runner out at the plate in the fifth to preserve the Tiger shutout.
