Tiger Boys Win 3rd Game at Pattonsburg

It was a case of role reversal Thursday night as the boys won and the girls lost to Pattonsburg. The boys survived losing Bryce Ross and Truman Moore to foul trouble and found a way to win 59-53. They did it by getting the kind of balanced scoring that they had been looking for all year as they had nine in the scoring column and three in double figures in the win.

The Tigers took a 13-8 lead after one quarter. Pattonsburg chipped away in the second and third quarters, getting back to within one point at 41-40. But then Worth County scored 18 in the fourth quarter to pull away and win. Free throws were the difference in the game as Pattonsburg had every opportunity to take control, but could not. They were 17 for 35 from the line; Worth County, with fewer chances, made the most of them, shooting 12 for 17 from the line.

Bryce Ross still led the scoring for Worth County as he had 18 for the night. Brevyn Ross followed with 14. Cole Parman had 12, Ben Badell had a career high 4, Grant Parman had 3, and Chris Alarcon, Andrew Mullock, Lane Craven, and Truman Moore had 2 each. Worth County had five 3-pointers in the game with Cole Parman getting four. Grant Parman, of all people, had the other one.

The girls fell 54-33 against a solid (17-7) Pattonsburg squad. They played the Panthers tough in the first quarter, but fell behind 30-21 at the half. Then, they fell back into their bad habit of struggling in the third quarter, getting outscored 16-0. They recovered to outscore the Panthers 12-8 in the fourth, but by then it was too late.

Kaitlyn Davidson led the Tigers with 12 points. Claire Andrews followed with 6, Kacey Smyser with 5, Kristen Andrews with 4, and Sydney Thummel, Rebecca Moore, and Danielle Funk each with two.
