The county learned that the MODOT plans to patch Route F in 2013 and resurface it in 2014. Route C will be resurfaced this summer. Next on the priority list are Route H, Route T, Route Z, and Route AA respectively.
The county signed a contract with Ringgold County to house prisoners. The Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail charges a similar rate; however, Mount Ayr is much closer.
The county renewed its annual contract with the University Extension office for $6,600.
The county received correspondence regarding the roof from S&V. They had checked into whether the slate roof is under warranty and that they had gotten vague answers from the company. The focus was on mechanical damage to the slate materials.
Emergency Management Director Pat Kobbe reported that she plans to put the emergency operations manual on disk. The county needs an alternative emergency operations center in the event that the Courthouse cannot be used. Possible locations were either the Grant City or Sheridan Firehouse. Kobbe requested and got the county van for February 28th to attend the National Weather Service training that is required to designate Worth County as a storm ready county.
Economic Developer Tammy Ueligger reported that the county plans to hold a business forum Friday, February 22nd at noon at the Senior Center. Lunch will be served. It will be put on by the Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation.
Ueligger attended two more meetings to discuss how to get local meat to local stores. There will be two more wrap-up meetings to be held.
A Farmers Market meeting will be held March 12th. They plan to have it on the square and have it every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturday of the month. Ueligger told the Express that some of last year’s vendors are planning to have bigger offerings this year and planning to market their foods as all-natural. Ueligger requested and got permission to use the Gazebo for possible entertainment purposes. Ueligger is also in the process of getting permission to use the vacant lots on the northwest corner of the square.
Ueligger also attended Leadership Northwest Missouri classes.
She reported that there were a lot of positive comments about the business cards at Great Northwest Days.
