Donna Richards was born May 26, 1934, in Allendale, Missouri to Clifford and Mildred (Austin) Rinehart. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren on December 6, 2022. At the age of 88.
Donna graduated from Grant City High School in 1951 and later that year was united in marriage to Charles Richards.
Donna and Charles loved to dance and travel. They especially enjoyed attending their children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Family was important to them.
Donna was a proud member of the United Baptist Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr. She worked as deputy treasurer for 25 years at the Ringgold County Courthouse.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; sister Fern Sheddrick; and nephew Lynn Sheddrick.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Kathy (Steve) Cole of Polk City, Iowa and son Kelly (Shirley) Richards of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren Kelsie (Story) Schankel, Shelby (Ryan) Ravens, Lydia (Jason) Wacker and Devin Richards; great grandchildren Rylan Ravens, Sawyer Schankel, Khloe Schankel, Emerleigh Wacker, Steele Schankel, Silas Ravens and Hudson Wacker. Other survivors include nephews Glenn Sheddrick, Terry (Haley) Sheddrick and niece Linda Sheddrick.
A memorial fund has been established for the American Legion in Mount Ayr.
A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr on December 12.
