Tiger JH Boys Race Past Albany; Down Warriors

Worth County’s Junior High boys raced past Albany 45-27 Monday after jumping out to an early 14-2 lead. They remain with only one loss after winning the Northeast Nodaway Tournament. They will play in the North Harrison Tournament in two weeks against Albany, Princeton, and North Harrison.

The Tigers got out to an initial 6-0 lead as Alex Rinehart scored off a backdoor pass from Aydan Gladstone, Jackson Smith got a steal, and Aydan Gladstone’s drive led to two free throws. Jordan Poppa’s putback made it 6-2, but then Jackson Runde got the hot hand at the end of the quarter. Bobby Dodge got a putback for Albany, but Aydan Gladstone countered with a triple to make it 24-6 with 2:33 left. Cade Newman scored on a drive to make it 24-8 as Albany was trying to match Worth County’s intensity, but then Lucas Wake got behind the Albany defense and got a pass from Jackson Runde, Alex Rinehart scored off a couple of drives and converted one into a three-point play, and Jace Cousatte got behind the defense and got a pass from Aydan Gladstone to put Worth County up 33-8 at the half.

Alex Rinehart continued to carry the Tigers in the third quarter. Aydan Gladstone blocked a shot, aired it out, and found him all alone to start the scoring. Once again, Aydan disrupted the Albany offense as he got a steal and it turned into a 3-point play for Rinehart at the other end.
