Obituary -- James Marion Smith

Jim passed away at the age of 93 years at his home in Grant City, MO, the son of Thomas and Roxie (Shields) Smith.

He enlisted in the Marines on November 6, 1942. He served during World War 11 and received an honorable discharge on December 12, 1945.

He married Arlene Summers on March 25, 1946. To this union two sons were born. Jim and Arlene lived in numerous places but settled in Grant City for most of their lives.

He had a Sewing machine business on the square in Grant City. He went into construction working in the asphalt plant. Later he started his own business of insulating and painting homes.
Jim loved to fish, hunt and read Western books.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Preceding him in death were his parents; twin siblings Bill Smith and Betty Trimbolt; infant grandsons James and Phillip Smith.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, sons Wayne (Norma) of Albany; Dean (Janell) of Grant City. Seven grandchildren; Tina (Jason) Allen of Albany; Tracy Smith of Grant City; Angie (Larry) Janssen of Albany, Mike (Mandi) Smith of Albany, Valeri (Shannon) Mumford of Gower, MO, Jimmy (Teasha) Smith of Albany, Kandy (Jason “Dink”) Abplanalp of Worth, 20 great-grandchildren, Kendra (Christian) Lewis, Alyssa (Brandon) Barry, Andrew, Andrea, & Jaron Allen, Dallas Monticue, Kendall Miller, Kaleigh, Hailey & Madisyn Janssen, Chloe & Graci Smith, Jasmine, Maverick & Harper Mumford, Kennleigh, Kadence & Kohen Smith, Wyatt & Lance Abplanalp; and 2 great-great-grandson, Mathew Lewis and Rylan Siddens.

Funeral Services will be held at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00. Visitation at 1.  Interment in Grant City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Worth County Fire Department.
