County Winds Down FEMA Projects, Changes Policy on Old 169

August 31st Minutes

Presiding Commissioner Ted Findley brought the meeting to order at 9:00 am.

Commissioner Chevy Davidson attended by phone.

Commissioner Regan Nonneman made a motion to approve minutes and agenda. Commissioner Ted Findley seconded. All in favor, motion carried.

Treasurer Linda Brown presented the weekly balance sheet, payroll and bills.

Gene Auten, County EMD reported that Textcaster should be ready this week. He will forward the License Agreement to Clerk Owens, she will need to sign it and send it to the company.

Tyler Paxson is replacing the tires on the Emergency Trailer today. Gene has been checking in to a couple of front and back mounts for the batteries and generators.

The EF Johnson radios are compatible with the MOSWIN radio, so they will be more affordable.

Gene requested permission to attend a three day HAZMAT Symposium in September. There are MERC scholarships available for 2 nights stay but he will need an additional night. He will find out the costs and report to commission at a later date.

Road and Bridge Foreman Jim Fletchall report:

--There was water running over the road on CR 81. The tube probably needs replaced.

--They have 7 FEMA jobs left to complete.

--Fletchall and Clerk Owens have been working on changing the FEMA agreement for CR 30, they should be able to start soon. Owens reported that the Corp of Engineers okd the change. Fletchall spoke with the engineer about tube size.

--Fletchall reported that the old highway south of town has several areas of mud where the base has bottomed out. After some discussion the commissioners decided they needed a different policy for the old highway. It is wider that other county roads and has much more traffic. So the county will start adding some rock to the areas that need it most.

Commissioner Nonneman invited Sheriff Terry Sheddrick and deputies Scott Sherer and Jason Cain to the meeting to discuss an active shooter policy and to discuss the deputy’s truck. It will take $1700 to get it running appropriately. The commissioners advised them to take fix the pickup. Even if they decide to sell it they will need to have it fixed.
