He married the love of his life,
Barbara Barnes on February 16, 1956. They had two children Monte and Marc.
Phil served in Germany with the United States Army
during the Korean War. He was a member of the Grant City Baptist Church;
a 33rd degree Freemason in the Masonic Lodge; a member of the Ararat
Shrine Provost Club and Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
his infant twin sister Phyllis and his brothers Don and J.V. He is survived by
his wife Barbara of the home; sons Marc of Grant City, MO; Monte (Janice) of
Kansas City, MO; sister Bernice Barber of Sheridan, MO; brothers Harold
(Virginia) of Grant City, MO and Dick (Myrna) of Albany, MO; two granddaughters
Lauren and Clara Stephenson of Columbia, MO.
Phil was a bookbinder by profession
for most of his working career. But he was a man of many hats. He loved the
outdoors more than sitting around the house. He purchased the family farm
(Missouri Century farm) after his mother died and spent many weekends there. He
had a hard working spirit and a can do attitude. He sometimes worked more than
one job and succeeded in building his own home while holding down two jobs.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing,
camping, golfing with friends and family. He really liked going to Texas for the winter.
