North Nodaway FFA Holding Pig Raffle for Trevin Wyllie

The North Nodaway FFA will be holding a pig raffle fundraiser for student Trevin Wyllie. He will be a senior this year. Proceeds will go to help with medical expenses.

Cost is $20 per ticket. Winner will get a half-pig, processed and packaged. The other half will go to Trevin’s family. If interested, contact Lacy Riley, Casey Wray, Mr. Nally, or any North Nodaway FFA member.

 

Casey Wray Named New North Nodaway FFA President

Casey Wray was named the new North Nodaway FFA President for the 2025-26 school year. Sadee Clapp was Vice-President, Blaine Clements 2nd Vice President, Lacy Riley Secretary, Mya Hansen Treasurer, Lily Blane Reporter, Ridge Clements Sentinel, and Kila Miller Historian. This year's officers were Addalea Barcus (President), Katelyn Parman (Vice-President), Lacy Riley (Secretary), Amy Richards (Treasurer), Sadee Clapp (Reporter), and Casey Wray (Sentinel). 

There were 22 members and 58 guests present.

Awarded Discovery Degrees were Eliza Clements, Luke Clements, Owen Coleman, Jaycie Edington, Journey Farnsworth, Jackson Keho, Hayden Marriott, Conner Pearson, Zoey Phillips, Marek Stevens, Tommie Stringer, and Eli Tatum. 

Greenhand Degrees went to Draven Raver, Weston Alexander, Taccoa Moyer, and Pyper Smith. Pyper Smith was named Star Greenhand.

Chapter FFA Degrees went to Lily Blane, Wyatt Emery, Mya Hansen, Ridge Clements, Harley Howard, Aiden James, Kila Miller, Ty Moyer, Keith Riedel, and Matthew Sturgis.

Honorary membership went to Nicki Herndon, who let students dig soil pits for FFA contest. 

Star Chapter Farmer award went to Casey Wray. Chapter Effort award went to Ridge Clements. 

Chapter Leadership awards went to Addalea Barcus, Sadee Clapp, Blaine Clements, Emily Keho, Stetsyn Brown, Lacy Riley, Casey Wray, Amy Richards, Katelyn Parman, and Nevaeh Smith.

Chapter Scholarship awards went to Addalea Barcus, Sadee Clapp, Blaine Clements, Emily Keho, Stetsyn Brown, Lacy Riley, Casey Wray, Amy Richards, Katelyn Parman, and Nevaeh Smith.

Farm Bureau Proficiency Awards went to Weston Alexander (Dairy), Addalea Barcus (Nursery Landscaping), Lily Blane (Horticulture), Sadee Clapp (Dairy, Dairy Foods, Nursery), Blaine Clements (Soils), Wyatt Emery (Dairy), Mya Hansen (Horticulture), Ridge Clements (Soils), Harley Howard (Dairy Foods), Aiden James (Soils), Emily Keho (Horticulture, Nursery), Keith Riedel (Soils), Lacy Riley (Nursery, Dairy Foods), Pyper Smith (Dairy Foods), and Casey Wray (Nursery, Soils). Eighteen out of 22 members got a proficiency award.

Top fruit salespeople were Lacy Riley (3rd), Addalea Barcus (2nd), and Sadee Clapp (1st). Clapp sold over $1,000 worth of FFA fruits and flower baskets. 

The Dairy Foods team was 11th at Districts. Members were Pyper Smith, Wyatt Emery, Weston Alexander, and Taccoa Moyer. Top scorer was Pyper Smith.

The Floriculture team was 13th at Districts. Members were Lily Blane, Mya Hansen, Kila Miller, and Amy Richards. Lily Blane was top scorer.

The Nursery Landscape team was 2nd at districts and qualified for state. Members were Casey Wray, Lacy Riley, Sadee Clapp, and Addalea Barcus. Casey Wray was top scorer at districts and Addalea Barcus top scorer at state.

The Soils team was 10th at district and qualified for state. Members were Ridge Clements, Blaine Clements, Aiden James, and Keith Riedel. Ridge Clements was top scorer in district and Ridge and Blaine Clements tied for top score at state.

Addalea Barcus Named North Nodaway FFA President for 2024-25

Addalea Barcus was named North Nodaway FFA President at the annual FFA Banquet. Other officers were Katelyn Parman (Vice-President), Lacy Riley (Secretary), Amy Richards (Treasurer), Casey Wray (Sentinel), and Sadee Clapp (Reporter). 

Outgoing officers for 2023-24 were Saryn Brown (President), Aydan Blackford (Vice President), Lauren Herndon (2nd Vice President), Addalea Barcus (Secretary), Morgan Pope (Treasurer), Lacy Riley (Reporter), Katelyn Parman (Historian), Preston Hansen (Sentinel), and Amy Richards (Chaplain). 

Getting State FFA Degrees were Aydan Blackford, Saryn Brown, and Lauren Herndon. The Star Greenhand Award went to Ridge Clements. The Star Chapter Farmer Award went to Saryn Brown. The Honorary Chapter Membership, going to people who have been big supporters of FFA, were Emily Bix and Catherine Auffert.

The Chapter Leadership Award went to Aydan Blackford, Saryn Brown, Preston Hansen, Lauren Herndon, Katelyn Parman, Neveah Smith, and Gabby Harper.

The Chapter Scholarship Award went to Aydan Blackford, Saryn Brown, Preston Hansen, Lauren Herndon, Morgan Pope, Brice Trimble, Amy Richards, Katelyn Parman, Neveah Smith, and Gabby Harper.

The Effort Award, given to the person who is dedicated to their contest and who showed great work ethic and responsibility, went to Addalea Barcus.

There were five teams that competed at area FFA competitions this year. Two of them went to state.

The Dairy Foods team of Lily Blaine, Kila Miller, Mya Hansen, and Ridge Clements was 11th at Districts. Mya Hansen was the high individual at districts.

The Agronomy team was 4th at Districts and 24th at State. Team members were Blaine Clements, Neveah Smith, Sadee Clapp, and Casey Wray. Casey was high individual at both districts and state.

The Floriculture team of Addalea Barcus, Emily Keho, Lacy Riley, and Jackie Wray was 12th at Districts. Addalea Barcus was high individual at districts.

The Nursery Landscape team of Saryn Brown, Preston Hansen, Aydan Blackford, and Morgan Pope was 2nd at Districts and 21st at State. Saryn Brown was high individual at state. Morgan Pope was high individual at districts.

The Livestock team of Stetsyn Brown, Harley Howard, Aiden James, and Keith Riedel was 13th at Districts. Stetsyn Brown was high individual at districts.

Makayla, Alonna Cross Selling North Nodaway FFA Food Until October 12th

North Nodaway students Makayla and Alonna Cross are selling FFA food until Friday, October 12th. Money will go towards chapter activities such as contests, National Convention, State Convention, the annual FFA Banquet, and other activities. People can make donations as well. Keagan O’Riley, Kristin Herndon, Emma Hart Return from DC Trips

North Nodaway students Emma Hart, Kristin Herndon and Keagan O’Riley returned from separate trips to Washington (DC) this month.

Keagan O’Riley went to DC from the 8th to the 14th for an energy conference that United Electric was part of after putting together a award-winning video on energy conservation at the state level. Her video was one of the top six nationally; the top six were interviewed by judges, who tested her on her knowledge. She got to meet Congressman Sam Graves and take a tour of DC. She got to see the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Washington Memorial, and the World War II Memorial. She also got her picture taken in front of the White House and got to tour the Capitol.

Emma Hart and Kristin Herndon went to DC from June 18th to 24th as part of the FFA Washington Leadership Conference. They had one large session of 340 students and then broke into pods of 25-30 students for the remainder of the conference. Emma said she made friends with many of them, and she focused on student involvement in school and getting ideas for getting younger students involved. She said she plans to try some of those ideas out at North Nodaway this fall.

Emma said she met students from all over the US, including five from Georgia, six from Oklahoma, two from Wisconsin, and one from Ohio.

Emma Hart Installed as North Nodaway FFA President

Emma Hart was installed as the North Nodaway FFA President Wednesday night at the FFA Banquet and three North Nodaway teams were recognized for going to state. There were 22 FFA members and 55 guests present.

New officers for 2018-2019 are Emma Hart (President), Kristin Herndon (1st Vice President), MaKayla Cross (2nd Vice President), Audrey Trimble (Secretary), Cheyenne Murphy (Treasurer), Emily Dew (Reporter), Karissa Oberhauser (Historian), Cody Cline (Sentinel), Layna Murphy (Parliamentarian), and Karson Oberhauser (Chaplain).

Outgoing officers, who served in 2017-2018, were Taylor Combs (President), Cole Bird (1st Vice-President), Kristin Herndon (2nd Vice-President), Emma Hart (Secretary), Makayla Cross (Treasurer), Audrey Trimble (Co-Reporter), Cheyenne Murphy (Co-Reporter), Arron Coleman (Sentinel), Emily Dew (Historian), Bailey Tate (Parliamentarian), and Layna Murphy (Chaplain).

Recognized for getting Chapter FFA Degrees were Lucas Alvarez, Austin Bird, Tyler Bix, Tyler Chesnut, Veronica Ghedini, Logan Keho, Layna Murphy, Ryan Riley, Drexel Richardson, and Dalton Smyser.

Getting Chapter Leadership Awards were Taylor Combs, Cole Bird, Bailey Tate, Kristin Herndon, Emma Hart, MaKayla Cross, Audrey Trimble, Cheyenne Murphy, Emily Dew, and Arron Coleman.
Getting Chapter Scholarship Awards were Taylor Combs, Cole Bird, Bailey Tate, Kristin Herndon, Emma Hart, MaKayla Cross, Audrey Trimble, Cheyenne Murphy, and Emily Dew.

The Effort Award this year went to Veronica Ghedini.

Taylor Combs will receive a State FFA Degree at the State Convention.

Star Greenhand went to Karissa Oberhauser. Star Chapter Farmer went to Taylor Combs.

In contests this year, the Agronomy team finished 5th in Districts and qualified for state. Members are Taylor Combs, Emily Dew, Ashley Thompson, and Cole Bird.

The Floriculture team was 5th in Districts and qualified for state. Members are Emma Hart, Audrey Trimble, MaKayla Cross, and Keagan O’Riley.

The Nursery Landscape team was 3rd at Districts and qualified for state. Members are Kristin Herndon, Cheyenne Murphy, and Olivia Miller.

The Dairy Foods team was 15th at Districts. Members were Tyler Bix, Ryan Riley, Lucas Alvarez, Austin Bird, Logan Keho, and Dalton Smyser.

The Entomology team was 16th at Districts. Members were Bailey Tate, Rachael Gray, Karissa Oberhauser, Karson Oberhauser, Dakota Wray, Veronica Ghedini, and Layna Murphy.

The Livestock team was 26th at Districts. Members were Andrew Blackford, Cody Cline, and Carson Hoepker.

The outgoing 2017-2018 officer team led the Opening Ceremonies and outgoing President Taylor Combs gave the welcome. Outgoing chaplain Layna Murphy gave the invocation.
